well the glass is either half full or half empty, regardless of how you look at it an announcement of some kind is better than the current silence

Eh, I wanted to import some stuff from Xploited Media but they are too expensive. Perfume is $40 and Father's Den is $45. Yikes.

Tony's great.

I imported 1408 from them for around 36 bucks I believe. Maybe a buck more, but that's it.

Enjoyed it immensely - sans the bonus features which won't play on our machines.

For anyone interessted. The Dutch version might be an alternative. However the extra features might give playback problems (PAL). The main feature is in 1080/24. The trailers in 1080i. Price of this Director's cut DTS HD MA edition is 22-25 euro.

DVDoutlet.nl, Freerecordshop.nl, Mediadis.com (English site available), vanleest.nl, bol.com (NL).

The German version contains both director's and theatrical cut.

Is the german version in English or is it overdubbed into German like those Japanese Godzilla flicks?

If you import this one, you have to know it.....you might not able
to access the special feature of this blu-ray if you have a region A
blu-ray or PS3 player. you can watch the movie and watch the trailer,
if you want the rest of the special feature, you have to buy the 2 disc
DVD.

the English DTS Lossless Master Sound is amazing. the picture is just ok.

While I believe Weinstein will produce BDs at some point this year, I doubt 1408 will be one of the titles they release among their initial BDs. It was a minor hit but has already been out on dvd for some time now and import versions have existed for months. After the fiasco of their HD DVD releases(they sold extremely poorly), I wouldn't expect anything from Weinstein except day and date releases and can't miss titles that fit the Blu-ray demographic. So I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a domestic Blu-ray of this title. If it is any consolation the dvd version upconverts very nicely.

Every Blu Ray as far as I know has included the original language audio. This one is no exception.
