Thought there is no date set, the director is planning on a new transfert for the french blu-ray, with tons of extras. The R2 DVD is superior to the US Blu-Ray already, in both colors, contrasts and extras, so it look promising.

Last I checked, the sequel is on hold and/or cancelled. Avery and Gans are both busy on other things; Gans is directing Onimusha as it is.

I've heard murmurs of a remastered Silent Hill DVD/Blu-ray. I'd get it: I've watched my BD25 many times, and it looks great, but I'm all for improvement.

I thought I had read somewhere that Christophe Gans was unavailable, and Roger Avary turned it down when he learned that Gans wasn't involved.

I'm watching the first Blu-Ray version right now, and it actually looks pretty good. I'm not usually a fan of the early MPEG-2-encoded Blu-Rays, but this one is quite nice.

I was also looking on Amazon.com for a used copy, and I saw another version with different cover art. I suspect that "SH" was part of Sony's remastered first-gen titles. Amazon doesn't give technical specs other than sound options and aspect ratio, and all they listed for it was aspect ratio. I'm trying to find if there were any reviews for a remastered version.

Agree! The "atmosphere" of the movie was very creepy. A great job by the director. Ditto for the AQ.

last I read they were talking about bringing it out next year or 2011. They said they knew what they did wrong in the first film and are trying to fix it for the second and make it even creepier. Yes they are both working on other projects in the mean time but they are also working on this as well.

I LOVED that movie, never really played the games but still pretty good... I agree with most that the end could have been better but still the first half of the movie is incredible...The Blu-Ray is pretty decent IMO...

The ending freaked me out, I thought she was gonna get back to Sean Bean but she was still on the other side. Creepy and sad.

i bought this a couple of weeks ago and watched it. I spent the entire first half of the movie tweaking my settings. And by the end I was actually thinking to myself that it was the best PQ I have seen so far. Since tweaking it two weeks ago I have left all my setting where they are at and my movies look better than ever.
