Several of them...Casino Royale, Unforgiven, Goodfellas, Sopranos final seasons and the promise of Lawrence of Arabia were among the biggest draws for me.

saw Casino Royale at my friend's house last year. He had PS3 and a sweet Pioneer plasma... I was floored. Then we played Resistance and I was sold, except I was broke. So about 7-8 months later, maybe more, I picked up a ps3 and have been in heaven since.

Nice thread OP.

I decided I needed an HD player as I was watching the first minutes of Blade Runner - The Final Cut in the theater. Some quick research revealed Blu-ray to be the way to go, and I haven't looked back since.

Metal Gear Solid 4. Now that I have a BD player, I might as well start looking at titles.

I have two players now.... and I never saw a blu-ray outside of the store when I got my first player, I just LOVE movies.... so it wasn't any particular movie.... I just wanted to make sure I was prepared, so I bought an HD DVD player and PS3 within 2 days of each other, but I jumped in LATE, like maybe 5 months ago????? not sure.... 6 months? but I got 30 Blu's the first day, and picked up 25 or so HD DVDs a few days later.... I just "need" movies.... I love them, so the thought of them being "better" was what did it......

Honestly when I kept upgrading my audio.... that was the big push towards Blu-Ray....

Default Casino Royale

Bought my Blu-ray player and a couple discs prior to Casino Royale, but CR was the movie I had in mind when I got my player. CR was my first Blu-ray with uncompressed audio, and after hearing it I was hooked!

Honestly (and you all can go ahead and laugh). It was a friday, I was at work and having one of those really really really really bad days. One of those days where I had to justify why the heck I was working my tail off everyday. So after work that day I stopped at the bank and ran to best buy. Ended up leaving with PS3 for my basement, Panasonic BD player for upstairs,(but wait no high def TV upstairs) 32" samsung LCD for upstairs and a new Sony home theater reciever for the basement as well. About 2200 bucks later I was home with an upset wife and job I still had to go back to on monday. The point of my story is: Blu-ray rocks and if I had to do it all over again you bet your ass I would. Love every second of it and as of now so does the wife.

LOL! Same here, almost. Except I saw Batman Begins on HD-DVD at Best Buy, mistook it for Blu-ray, did my research, realized it was HD-DVD, yet stuck with Blu-ray regardless. Seven months later, had myself my Panasonic DMP-BD10AK.

The first blu-ray I purchased, and what has to be one of my favorites in HD, is Apocolypto. It grabs you with its unbelievable detail from the very first scene.

Movies didn't make me pull the trigger when I bought my blu-ray player. I had just bought my sony KDS-60A3000 hdtv and wanted some hd to watch. I have satellite service but not hd satellite service, and had not hooked up my OTA antenna yet. It was a simple matter of wanting HD.
