also remember, that the very successful COD4 was built by the Infinity Ward team and NOT treyarch (which made the remaining COD games), probably giving them their unique success...

I'll wait on the fence for this one.

What would really spice up COD WW2 games would be "Call of Duty: Axis Forces" where you get to play as either the Germans,Japanese or Italians in cinematic single player campaigns like in the previous games with the alllies. Now this hasn't been done by either COD,MOH or the other WW2 franchises but I doubt it would ever be made....

It's great COD is expanding to the Pacific theater though. I've been hoping for that since the first one.

If I was at Infinity Ward I would already start writting COD6. Modern setting with some modern weaponary, a topical story, a great immersive multiplayer. I would release COD6 as soon as it was ready. There would need to be almost zero advertising. All the commercials need to say is, "COD6, made by Infinity Ward."

The good news is Activision is starting development on CoD5. The bad news is, Call of Duty 5 is based on WWII.

Again, I am puzzled. Who is in charge of these corporations. Didn't they figure out that CoD4 was a major success because it wasn't based on WWII?

Can't we just play CoD1, CoD2 or CoD3 if we want out dated weapons, no air strikes and uneventful game play?

What do you think?

But they are developing COD WAW for the consoles and I know how, because they're using the 360 as the lead console, and if they are developing COD for the consoles, then there is no reason for it to not be on the PS3.

I can't say why it was successful I do not think being set on modern times had much say in that, since alot of games are sent in modern of future so really it would seem generic.

My choice is C It does not bother me, and may or may not purchase but its theme has little draw on my purchase.

I would prefer a dark ages cod but I guess thats not going to happen ;p

COD4 is popular because of the smooth game play, huge levels, and it's seemingly imposible to completely finish the entire game (campaign and multiplayer - 10 prestiges for goodness sake!) So it's also challenging. I just bought this a couple of weeks ago, and haven't been able to go a day w/out playing it. It's REALLY, the best PS3 game to date!

i think a big part of cod 4's success was the modern setting. old guns and things are boring. people really like the real life guns.

I actually prefer WWII games. Medal of Honor has been my go-to FPS since the original Playstation, but I would look into a COD 5 if it went back to WWII.

yeah same cod4 was way better then 3 because of the change up
