Edit: May want to try (if you haven't already) turning UPnP on also to see if that helps. Last edited by owa; 06-27-2008 at 10:04 PM. |

I'm looking for UPnP in the firewall now. Fingers crossed.

Nope. Still didn't work. Is there possibly a port that I have to open in Port Forwarding on the router?

I decided it wasn't worth the hassle so I just got Nero and it works great.
Was a cakewalk to set it up and get the PS3 streaming. |

some less well-known things to keep in mind...
i know if you use TVersity, you can have some problems with the service starting and dying on you on it's own. if this is the case, you prolly have the ACE mega-codecs pack installed. this is bad mojo for TVersity. remove it and add individual codecs for stuff you can't view. WMP: your service here can die as well or not even start. double-check the service and it's dependencies, make sure it is actually running. i saw this one on my machine before i switched to TVersity. WMP: firewall can be an issue, but as long as you have that setup, you should be fine there. However, i have seen times when the firewall, even tho it is turned "off" will still cause problems until you reboot. it's rare, but can happen. turn it off and reboot, then check PS3: yea, double-check and make sure you even have the media server option turned on. i'm a tech, so i even go back to stuff as simple as "is it plugged in" when checking PCs. it's amazing how easily small stuff like that can be missed :P router: you shouldn't need to do any kind of port-forwarding or anythin like that, but some routers have their own firewalls on them as well. make sure if you have this, you have the options set correctly as well...this one bit me once before too. the primary reasons WMP won't share properly comes down to firewall/connectivity, services and of course having it turned on in WMP itself. it's not a bad idea to go back, turn everything off and walk thru it once in order after rebooting. you're still dealing with a M$ product, so anything is literally possible given the right circumstances and software conflicts. Wish i could give you more to run on right now, but it really is an odd sounding issue as most of this stuff has been brought up in some form already. good luck on your quest for streaming goodness! |
