Both. My bedroom PS3 is upright and my living room PS3 is flat. Just worked better that way for me. Haven't noticed a difference between the 2.

Upright. My entertainment stand (below the LCD TV) has too many devices and consoles (PS1 slim, PS2 slim, Gamecube, Dreamcast, and Wii) already on the 3 shelves so the PS3 is standing upright on a couple of packed magazine boxes next to the stand.

I keep mine flat in my entertainment center. There is plenty of "breathing room" so it stays cool. I think it looks cool standing up though.

Space limitation. Upright on my computer table, between printer and fax machine.

I keep mine flat. I personally think it looks ugly either way though. Oh well, I didn't buy it for it's looks like I did my mail-order bride. She looks like Sarah Silverman with glasses and answers to the name David Cross.

Depends on the room it's in and the room my 360 is in. If they are in the same room it's upright, in seperate rooms, it's flat.

I have it flat on a stand beside my TV with a speaker underneath of it. It gets good airflow on all sides, even the bottom!

Flat on my PS2 in my entertainment center that my tv goes up and down with remote control. I like to play the music from 2001 when it rises.

Mine is upright, because these dusts fall shortly & cleaned itself with ionic breeze fan filter. If I were to put them flat. Those dusts will be sitting there forever because the black cases attracts dust and causes the ps3 to burn or heat the CPU in any time soon.

Mine's upright next to the TV stand. The Wii stradles the entertainment center on the opposite side. It has a nice symmetry to it.

Vertical for me now. Since I ran out of room in my entertainment center, I have it up on a small table next to the PS2 which is vertical as well. Looks cool either way. Hope my kid doesn't have any funny ideas and try to knock them over like dominos.

Both of mine are upright. They seem to operate with a lot less fan noise this way. I ran them both flat at first but there was a great deal more fan activity and thus noise.

It was flat, but my wife bought a Wii, so it's standing upright with the Wii next to it.

upright cause that's the only way i can fit both my Wii and PS3 in the intertainment center with both standing up. and i really need the ventelation.
