Well, Nolan said he's not sure if he wants to return to the third installment but i hope this is a gimick of some sort. I think it'll be Two Face and The Riddler, except done more realistically and right (Two Face didn't obey his own rules in Batman Forever). For some reason, i can see Johnny Depp playing The Riddler after that newest Batman show gave The Riddler a new (horrible) makeover.

I think Nolan has at least set a precedent that any other director would be wise to follow. No Schumacher freefalls and it should be fine.

But Eckhart has said Two-Face is mainly a vigilante in TDK rather than an outright villain, so it makes sense to end his storyline in this movie. But Nolan criticized the previous Batman movies for killing off the popular villains, so that was another reason this is going to be a big surprise for many Batman fans.
Dammit, I was going to post that I was proud of myself for not reading this one, then when I quoted it, the spoiler tags weren't there...opps.

I actively tell myself I'm not going to read them...AS I'm highlighting them. I, too, am weak.

have to agree...Crispin Glover would be perfect besides Johnny Depp is too big now anyway.

Jim Carrey was a terrible Riddler.

Jim was great at doing the part he was contracted to do, and I think he would step it up to play it with more depth if he was cast again (but he wont be).

Depp would be good.

i would want to see Steve Buscemi or Christopher Walkin. Both guys are wierd as hell just standing around with no acting. Add in a few lines, and bam! Kind of funny looking. No, neither would do well as the riddler, I just like seeing them in movies.

I think Depp would be good if not for POTC.

THANK YOU! I thought that I was alone. Joel Schumacher is the one that needs to take any blame for 'Batman Forever.' Jim Carrey's performance fit in perfectly with Joel Schumacher's vision of Batman. I enjoyed 'Batman Forever'... although I enjoyed it the least of the batman trilogy (I exclude 'Batman & Robin' for obvious reasons).

Actually, Christopher Walken ain't bad! I could see him pull it off. The Riddler doesn't have to be an agile and energized "bouncing off the walls" type of character, so his age shouldn't necessarily play into the equation.

Nolan said he would rather have Hoffman in the movie than Penguin because he believes that portraying Penguin in his new installments would be too "tricky". You can forget about Mr. Freeze and anybody else with superpowers because Nolan won't use anybody unrealistic.

Does this remind anybody else of Johnny Depp?

Are you sure about that? Cuz I saw a clip that shows much differently. I'm sure most of you have by now also. It's after the credits roll, unless someone fabricated it.

Whoa, Deja vu... Riddler: Sam Rockwell.

Thus starts my petition to get Sam hired to play the Riddler

He's in TDK, but is playing a character called Mike Engal (the spelling might not be quite right on the last name). IMDB.com has a synopsis of who that character is in TDK... but it's something of a SPOILER!!
