i wouldn't go that far with nintendo. after all, the wii isn't even hi-def. yes, they added a motion sensor gimmick controller, but didn't sony just put motion sensing in their controller?

as a side note, i remember having a gamepad for my computer (still do i think) that had motion sensing in it.

Perceived innovation?

Nothing innovative about the nintendo. It's a gamecube with a new gimicky controller.

Agreed. The only thing that's innovative about the Wii is how TVs are being broken (controllers through the screen)!

Thumbs up blu-ray(hoo-ray)?

true, tortoise beats hare. in this case scenario the hare may still just possibly squeeze out a win. sorry guys, i like both sides, therefore in this "war", I stand neutral.

Once Star Wars confirms a couple release dates for a couple movies on BD...it'll be like dropping Hiroshima on HD-DVD...(and no...I didn't say this wrong....DO YOU KNOW HOW BIG HIROSHIMA IS?)

Well I for one have slight liking for the Nintendo Wii. Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Music and Wii Motorsports would be my starter lineup when I get the Wii next year.

If something out-of-the-ordinary happens in the console race after 2010, I wouldn't mind the Nintendo Wii taking the #1 slot and Sony at #2.

As long as the XBOX 360 stays in LAST PLACE, I'm happy

From current statistics, the Nintendo Wii will dethrone the XBOX 360 within H2 of this year. So that means #1 spot is secured against the "flopbox".

All that needs to happen is for the PS3 to overtake the XBOX 360 in total sales and presto, there would be no way where MS can regain the spot.

Once that happens, then it's mission accomplished to sending the XBOX 360 on the bottom of the podium.

Even EGM was talking about the very hot rumors and likelihood of an updated Xbox 360 (Zephyr codename) that has an HD-DVD drive built-in, a much larger hard drive (which they'll need for digital downloads that they're already doing, especially HD downloads), HDMI, and the rest of it.

I think it's going to happen sooner, rather than later, because the PS3 really is an appreciably better piece of hardware all the way around.

The PS3 is a machine that'll stay current for the next decade. The Xbox360 in its present form is not. MS will have to play "hardware catchup" before long. The typical life of a game console is somewhere in the area of 4-5 years. Somehow I doubt MS is going to wait that long to at least introduce a "higher end" Xbox 360.

Heh, or knowing them, they'll put out a new machine and call it the Xbox720. *shrugs*

HDMI? Sure. 120 Gig HD? Sure. HD-DVD Internal drive? No chance in hell. They don't give a crap about hd-dvd. Also, the fastest HD-DVD reader is slower when reading DVD's then the drive in the 360's since launch. Somewhere along the lines of 12x max vs 16x consistent with the 360's DVD drive. So it would be an impossibility for it to be in there. Do not expect it. The rest of the stuff is still enough to make an uproar to existing console users and cannot wait for it to be released and see tons of 360 owners dropping the 360 like a bad habit. Nothing makes console users more pissed off then 2ndary things added on later. Its why the consoles that ARE successes are not plagued with "add-on's". Oh MS, you are the next Sega.

lol, the DC was great. i had a bunch of friends who had them, but i just stayed the course with the PS. needless to say, i had quite a few visitors at the house.

kind of like i do now with the ps3 and everyone else having the ps2 or pc rigs. saturday we played resistance from about 1 till 9. we started a new campaign because my buddy wanted to play on the hard level. needless to say, it took us about an hour to even clear the first level.

I still think it's one of the most underrated systems of all time.

It was ahead of its time in a lot of ways and its game library was incredible, especially if you include imports.

After Sega pulled out and the DC was technically "dead"... I couldn't believe some of the great games that kept coming out for it.

It's a real tragedy that the DC never made it and kept on going.

They should call it the XBox 365 - the number of days it took to decide on a redesign after the console was released

PS2 had something like a 6 or 7 year lifespan (PS2 to PS3 release)? Though there was the reduction is size during that time...

XBox was more like 4 years ...

360 is going to be a pretty short lived one... once the 365 comes out... or should that be 360 SE... or 360 SP1?

That would only be true if the A1 I have dies...

So I think it has only a 50% chance of being true!
