Similar to what Panasonic did with their stand-alone player. In addition to having a copy of Eight Below in the box, there was also a flyer directing customers to a website where you filled in some information, and they sent out two more free titles - Gone in 60 Seconds and The Great Raid. Usually they arrived within days. Obviously, that was on a much smaller scale than the PS3 launch, but similar nonetheless.

Wow. PS3 just pushed Blu-Ray way ahead in Europe...just with one announcement. The highest grossing Bond movie in the franchise's history will be free for the first 500,000. That's pretty hard to top.

Question: How can anyone expect to compete with that?

Answer: Easy...they can't

Gladdens my heart to see BD50s commonly available.

Cos I bought the science fiction line hook and sinker. A MS VP couldnt be mis-informed or so my naive past self (2005 edition) used to think.
