with a fixed pixel resolution of 1366x768, it will never display 1080p.
It might "accept" 1080p...but will never display it. ![]() ...of course if you sat far enough away, you would never notice the difference. ![]() Last edited by crackinhedz; 08-01-2008 at 02:16 PM. |

No, it doesn't. Cine-motion or MotionPlus do. 120hz simply resolves the 3:2 pulldown flickering issue in LCD TV's. You can turn off the Motionplus junk.

The TV simply does NOT have the pixels to display 1080p. |

Good question. It's important for LCD only if it is implemented properly though.
I'd avoid all the confusion and get plasma...hehe. But since your heart is set on LCD... Sony and Samsung are good brands you can't go wrong. 120Hz is nice and is divisible for 24 to give you a multiple of 24fps ... this is the frame rate movies are recorded at. This will reduce jitter when playing back movies in 24fps mode on your player. It is supposed to help but LCD sucks enough so that you may not notice anyways ;-) It also tries to fill in frames to give smoother motion on LCD. LCD pixels are slow to transition from white to black and may take longer to switch than the frame rate allows... so gimmicks are required to reduce the appearance of slow LCD pixels. Currently... I don't think there are any LCD TV's that provide 100% of the lines of resolution available on a fast moving picture... LCD is always worse than plasma in this respect... plasma pixels are by nature much faster. Jeff |

Blu-rays DO look better on the lx700 when set to display at 1080p. 720p tvs are actually 1366x768---it uses those extra pixels and thus, better picture. Most games and DVDs don't benefit though, becauese most games max out at 720p and DVDs even less, so they can't ever properly fill those extra pixels. Games that do have 1080p do look better though. Like Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Upscaling 720p games to 1080p is really only beneficial on a 1080p actual display, where it has tons of extra pixels that need a good scaler to create the illusion of filling them.
