we english like to piss and moan, but we always put down the cash. That seems to be whats going on with the PS3, lots of boycott talk and its too expensive, yada yadda, then whoosh, preorders go thru the roof. couple of games stores i been at said PS3 preorders are indeed going high numbers now.

Amazon doses not start pre orders until Feb 15th, expect sales to be high with them as well.

It is starting to look good for PS3 and blu ray, HD-DVD seems more popular on say the AVForum types (stuborn anti sony sentiment followed by Amir poison and persuasion), but i think more are seeing the need to be format neutral, but with BD cranking releases of quality and status, i think HD-DVD will take a back seat and is on a slippery slope. IMHO, HD-DVDs last hope is to get those cheap and nasty chinese players out to J6P NOW.

As of march 23rd, chalk another one up for the BDA..

By the way i own both formats, and was a HD-DVD only supporter.

PlayStation3 is the only mass market HD player outside the US or Japan - which immediately puts blu-ray at the number one spot.

I noticed that Play.com is now down to 9 HD-DVD's listed, against nearly 50 blu-ray movies. I've got 5 on pre-order.

I just can't see HD-DVD getting any kind of foot hold in Europe, even the Xbox360's add on isn't going to shift anywhere near enough units to rival the PS3. And frankly, with only 9 titles to choose from, why bother with it at all..!

^^ All that, plus the rest of the things in this thread, and threads like these: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...4597#post54597

It all starts adding up to what I think is a rather unmistakeable outcome.

Europe's launch lineup is much better than we had in the US too: you had to wait but you're getting much more refined firmware and more good games.

You can no longer pre-order the PS3 from Amazon.co.uk, entire allocation was sold out within 4 hours.Wonder how many pre-orders they filled today?

Absolutely. Their launch is the way it should have been for everyone.

Yep could have been better. But it also meant people purchased blu-ray movies (and more of them) in North America while waiting for some more games to arrive Now blu-ray is taking over .. once you watch a few it's hard to go back. Even people that were mostly interested in games will have a hard time not buying blu-ray instead of DVD once they've watched a few. Those millions of users.

And now more of the A+ games are hitting..I'll be getting

VF5
Motorstorm
F1
Oblivion
Flow

not sure about F.E.A.R. yet but probably.

March is going to be a rocking month for Sony on every front and region

Oh yeah Casino Royale as well and don't forget background downloading..

Launch Catalog in Europe is just awesome with the great 3 games that are Oblivion, Virtua Fighter 5 and Resistance and if you add Okami, FF XII and God of War 2 this is when PS3 becomes the perfect console.

Now my Wii won´t be alone, time for a new console.
