6 min Imax preview of TDK on Batman Begins. For something different I like to show some of the musical pieces on Across the Universe. Some beautiful stuff on that Blu!

Meet The Robinsons is a solid title.
Ratatouille is amazing too.

Probably have to be a tie between Cars and The Simpsons. No matter the title, no other movie genre can show the quality Blu-Ray is capable of.

Default First show off a DVD

The best way to show off your blu-ray is to first play a standard
DVD for a few minutes then replace it with a Blu-Ray and you get
them to say WOW now thats a nice picture

I don't have many action Blu-Rays to show off. But the few times I've showed off the system, I remember showing THE FOUNTAIN, BONNIE AND CLYDE and ACROSS THE UNIVERSE to people. THE FOUNTAIN has gorgeous cinematography, BONNIE AND CLYDE (which I showed to my Dad) has incredible PQ for a 40 year old movie, and ACROSS THE UNIVERSE also has great PQ and AQ as well.

I dunno. Usually when I show off my Blu-Ray player, I prefer showing off older movies rather than newer ones to show off the clarity and distinction of the transfer. And so far, the oldest films in my collection is BONNIE AND CLYDE and LIFE OF BRIAN. Haven't gotten around to watching the Kubrick Blu's, and I'm hesitant to show off CE3K since with the various FX shots, some of them are so clear that you can see some of the seams and such, thus losing the suspension of disbelief.

Do you turn off the upconverting first?

I was thinking about that. I may pick up Black Hawk Down & Fifth Element on Blu for that very reason. Show the same title on DVD and then Blu. They are rated rather high. I robot is another contender.

I am not sure I want to get any Pixar Blus yet, my kids think the theater is too loud and I will not watch them much, except maybe cars...

Planet Earth UK 1080P is region locked, yes? It would not play on my U.S. PS3, correct???

Sorry, I'm referring to the extended versions that I heard were going to be released. Are they released, and would they work on my US PS3???

The UK version is the most common one here in the US. Actually, I haven't seen the US version in store in a while.

Maybe there's 2 versions of the UK version, 1 being region 2 and another being region 1.

I had heard a while back that along with a new US version with sigourney weaver narration, that there would be a new - extended- UK version with the original attenborough narration and a better encode.

Yup....that's what I have. Love it! It's the first thin that I played on my new Panasonic once I got the TV out of the box. Even without any calibration it was just incredible. Definately demo material.

I grabbed my PE set to check it for ya. Nowhere on it does it say if it is Region 1, or region free. But I know that it works here in the US, it is very widely sold here...and is a 4 disk BD25 set. And that you need to buy it!

Sigh... feel like I'm repeating myself here.

There is allegedly an extended British import 5-disc version

I'm TRYING to find out if it's available, and if its region free so I could play in here in the US... Thanks.
