That $700 sub performs with subs in the 2-3k price range, so for what it is it's a steal! But I'd look around at other subs over Klipsch personally (I was in the same situation for subs, originally looking Klipsch, but found there was better out there), and probably polk too as you can get a better performing sub for either the same price or cheaper. Epik, hsu, svs, av123 make good subs and should have something in your price range. Not sure what you are wanting to spend on the sub, but the sub, for HT purposes, is important to the overall sound of the movie. Loud boomy bass is cheap, but if you want bass that puts you in the movie, where it feels like the monster from Cloverfield is in the room with you, then you'll want to stretch your budget a little more, and I'd look at that av123.

QFT ^^^^^

If you are looking around the 300 dollar price range though, this can't be beat.

Agreed, if your budget is 300, then go with that ED sub.

You will NEVER get a concensus on audio or video in these forums! There are far too many opinions here. Go listen to a few and make a decision. Alot of great people on here, unfortunately each of them have their own tastes
I think they'll all agree stay away from bose, but other than that let your ears lead you! Good luck, sounds like fun!!!!

i read this quote "the Sony may support 1.3, but does not support the Deep Color capabilities that HDMI 1.3 allows. Bottom line, as Blu-ray discs start providing more color depth in the form of Deep Color, the Sony can't take advantage of that." from projector reviews.com. is this gonna be a big deal? because i will be watching blu rays 99% of the time. i heard blu rays looked awesome from the sony vw40. now im confused. any thoughts?

No, it shouldn't be a big deal. It's a nice luxury, but it's not that important.

For the sub i'd either go with polks DSW Pro series. I have the DSW Pro 500 and I swear its amazing and it cost about $599. But they make a smaller one thats $499 I think. Plus the included remote control to adjust the phase, volume, and room specifications is just sweet. Otherwise I'd go with a Velodyne sub because subs are the only thing that company makes and they are great!
