Yes, it's $499, but it also includes Uncharted and whatever else (some voucher or something? I don't know).

With many games needing to install, full retail games on the PSN and the recent addition of the Video Store, not to mention Playtv which serves as a DVR for Europe, a large HDD is pretty much a necesity

Putting anything over 40GB out of the box is just stupid. I would discard a 160GB for a 320GB in a heartbeat. In fact just take the HDD out altogether and save me some money and time unscrewing those damn screws.

So, the hard drive is the only draw to the system? No new features or capabilities?

I understand the need for a bigger hard drive and will prolly be getting an external in the near future. But, why would you save all of your pictures to your ps3? Just use windows medea player 11. I can access all my photos and all 35gigs of movies w/o them ever leaving my computer. I do have a few random short videos that won't play for some reason but that is minor. This also allows me to access everything w/ my psp via remote play

Not everyone has a wireless connection to be able to stream PC files

My plan is to buy a NAS device with gigabit speed that the PS3/360 are compatible with and just plop it on my wired home network, which by that time will be entirely gigabit speed. It's too bad that the 360 doesn't have a gigabit ethernet port on it though.

I would definately consider getting the 160gb unit. If it allows me to, I would primarily use it to record HD programming of sports. And hopefully be able to transfer them to Bluray Disc to add to my Blu-brary. Will definately keep an eye out for more details on this.
