I just leave it stand-by because I'm lazy.

I used to leave mine running Folding@Home 24/7, but have started putting it in stand by in the last couple of months.

Usually I leave it on standby. However, I do flip the power switch in the back to off when I want to use one of the PS3 controllers as a joystick for my computer.

I make a point to never EVER touch the PS3, and freak out when people do, telling them it will leave smudges and eventually rub off buttons or scratch up the PS3. Because of this, I leave it in standby mode. I thought that was turning it all the way off until I opened this thread. Maybe I'll start turning it all the way off.

I leave mine on standby. My house has separate electric bills for my room and the rest of the house, and I moved my PS3 to the main part of the house to watch BDs on a better TV. Long story short, I am still paying the same amount for electricity without the PS3 in my room as I did before, with it on standby all the time. So any liberal environmentalist whackos out there can quit whining and start listening to us dittoheads.

I was able to get a replacement, and I've turned the system completely off after every time I've used it, but it's a pain to get behind my other equipment to turn it off. Do you guys leave yours in standby mode or turn the console completely off?
Well I try to turn it off as much as possible when not using it but sometimes if it is late at night and I stop playing a game cause I feel sleepy, then I'm kind of lazy to turn the stuff off so I let it on for at least all night sometimes not turning it off the next day either cause I just don't think about it. But in general it is off

My PS3 has only been out of stand-by when a storm knocks the electricity out of my house or while i'm transporting the beautiful black beast.

I actually forgot it even had a power switch. o_0 The posts kinda confirmed it, but I can't imagine many people actually turn the system off.

I didn't know you could do that. Are you using it with the PC by attaching the USB cable?

Standby, the PS3 uses barely any electricity when in this mode cuz, its not doing anything but putting on a little red light. Also, if its in standby then i can just use the controller to turn it on instead of having to go get up and turn it on...
