You can't judge the quality of the tv by that pic since it was taken in the dark obviously with the flash on. The only light source you see is from the camera.

Panasonic makes great tv's theres no doubt about that. I have a panny plasma in my bedroom. I prefer to watch live television and sports on the panny as is with most plasma sets vs lcds. However when it comes to bluray and watching movies, nothing compares to the bravia lineup. The colors, vibrancy, sharpness, and contrast ratio blow the panny out of the water.

I have the Viera TH-50PZ800U. bought it not too long ago. Picture does not compare to the the Bravia KDL-70XBR3. Yea I paid 25,000 more for it, but it was well worth it. I actually prefer the pixture on my old 60" sxrd Lcd-Projection over the Panny when it comes to Bluray as well. We entertain a lot of guests in our home and I havent had a single guest prefer the Panny over the Sony, sorry...the truth speaks for itself. I have no reason to be biased

i wouldnt even think about buying a sony... having done a TON of comparison shopping... panasonic or pioneer are the only options that i would consider
Theres a lot of variables not taken into account with the TVs you have, when you say one is better than the other -Are you comparing using the same movie and the same player? -Are the rooms used in the same lighting/viewing conditions? -What picture mode is each of the TVs on? -Is either of the TVs ISF calibrated? I mean, realistically speaking, out of the box settings in the same room, if the TVs were the same size, connected to the same source running the same material... thats the only way the comparison could be fair... but since thats not the case obviously its a lot harder to compare the sets... but i can almost guarantee under these conditions the panny would be better. |

Actually i dont own one. I only have a panny LCD for now... but I sell TVs for a living and have done a lot of comparison shopping before I take the plunge and upgrade... and the panny is the best aside from pioneer.

Even so, the screen would have looked too bright (since it IS a light source and the girl is not). This photograph is not a good example for comparison. Hold your horses. |

All my TV's were calibrated by the same home theater company in Newport beach. I love the panny , it's the tv I prefer to use when I watch my sports. I can't wait for the 08. NHL season to start, which is the primary reason why I bought it. I just think that my bravias produe a better picture especially when watching blurays.

Man, IPS is totally outdated, it's like four or five generations ago. It's 1996 technology, with a very slow response time. The industry moved on from that to better tech like SPVA or CPA a long time ago; now almost everybody has their own proprietary variation of it. Don't crap on what you don't understand.

No way does it have the same response time as an SPVA Samsung (or other manufacturer), you're smoking crack. edit: Just looked it up -- 8ms response; that's not so good versus 4ms CPA Sharp aquos and SPVA Samsung ToC A650. Last edited by mjbethancourt; 08-29-2008 at 12:26 AM. |
