My thoughts exactly! Although I swear I was told it was coming in an Amaray and was amazed when I saw the big box. Would love to know if there is a regular case version!

Picked up the Deluxe Edition in Tesco's today for £5. I've done well with Deluxe Editions the DVD was 3.99 and the BD a fiver while I paid £7 (on the day of release) for the 2 disc Collections Edition of the DVD and 5.99 for the standard BD. That's less than £22 for four different Casino Royale's....

Can anyone confirm that the all/some of the extras are in HD?

They still had stock? Damn.

My Tesco has nothing but the bestseller list. Maybe the big one has it but it's out of the way.

They had two and they were in two separate displays. They had big white cardboard boxes out in the open and a large display on the DVD/BD aisle. The very helpful guy from the tech department said the offer should continue to run. But it seems different stores are having completely different stock. I was hoping to find Star Trek but he hadn't seen it since it was released.

I think if I see anymore I'll pick them up for members here. Especially at £5. They also had Predator which is almost half the on-line price.

I live in the States and ordered this a long time back. I got a question for those that have it. Did you or do you see and BD Live content? When I get into BD-Live there is no content at all. I thought it may be because of my IP address being in the U.S. and it being the UK release but I saw a review where the guy says he can't get BD-Live to work. Oh and what is cut on the UK version?

I can't help you with the BD-Live, but the reason it's cut is because the BBFC felt that the tortue scene was too strong for a 12 certificate, but the studio wanted a 12 rating, so had it been left unedited it'd have been upped to a 15 rating, which really would have been just fine.

Technically though, it was never cut, because it was shown to the BBFC in it's unedited form, but the BBFC said it wouldn't pass as a 12 certificate, so the studio went back, edited it and officially submitted it to the BBFC, effectively meaning that that's the official version of the film in the UK and was never cut in the first place.

I still hold out hope though that next year they'll re-release it in it's unedited version.

OK. Yeah, the torture scene was left in here in the States and I guess got a PG13 rating. I've been shocked, really slapped in the face shocked twice in James Bond movies. That was the second time. The first was when 007 was captured by the North Koreans in Die Another Day.

I put the disc in again tonight and now there is content on the second disc's BD Live, all new previews, nothing related to Casino Royale though. But before it had nothing at all.

Anyway, I am watching the content on disc 2 and its outstanding, all in true HD. Much of the special features goes over the Bahama connection. Ian and his friends seemed to live the life down in the Caribbean. So if you got the deluxe edition and never got around to the extras on disc 2, I think anyone with an interest in Bond and Fleming is going to find the stories on locations, the tie in with the books, the rights to the movies, Ian Fleming and his friends in the Bahamas, etc.very interesting. The amount of information, including never told before stories, and the people in the features including Flemings's friends, authors, people who worked on several of the films, historians, etc. shows this isn't the studio double dipping. They really spent a lot of thought, time, effort to put out a quality edition beyond a normal release. It probably would have delayed the initial release months if they would have waited to include this new content.

The US version was cut in other places though (the black and white fight at the beginning, and the fight in the staircase). It's cuts also total up to about 30 seconds, whereas the UK one is cut only about 13 seconds.

I'm not sure it makes much difference to me tbh. The one I saw at the cinema and later on DVD (in the UK) was as graphic as it needed to be (in the torture scene). In fact, when looking at the differences on movie-censorship.com, I struggle to work out why those few seconds were cut from the UK version, considering they seem to just be Le Chiffre standing around with the rope and a shot of Bond's face (which evidently didn't stop me being squeamish about how much pain he was in!).

The discussion reminds me of a movie I wanted to see, This Film Is Not Yet Rated, an exposé on the American film rating board.

Pretty good film... I'm reasonably knowledgeable about the MPAAs practices, but this movie still revealed stuff I didn't know about, like just how secretive and hard to deal with they are. The BBFC are way fairer and more transparent by comparison.

Wasn't Casino Royale UK a 12 before they brought the 12A Certificate in? I'm sure they would have cut/replaced the opening sequence if it was a 12A. There have been a couple of 12's that have been borderline 15's over the years. I've always thought The Dark Knight was a little too intense and it makes Batman's (which was a 12 in cinemas) 15 seem tame in comparison.

I'm sure that Tim Burton's Batman would have been a 12 if that certification were around in the late 80's.

Any film that had a 12 rating on the cinema would more than likely get a 15 rating when it came to video. I can still remember buying THE FUGITIVE on vhs after watching it on the cinema and couldn't understand why it had a 15 rating on video.

I think the murder of Kimble's wife in The Fugitive was quite brutal probably borderline 15, it probably needed a 13 1/2 Certificate! I never really understand home certificates as every Christmas out of touch parents and grand parents are out buying a whole host of 18 rated films and games for underage kiddies. They should be an advisory rating only.

Nope, it was a 12A. I seem to remember the first 12A certificate was Spider-man in... 2001?

The standards have indeed relaxed in the last decade. The first 2 Alien films, for example, are 15s now (the versions that have been recently re-submitted, anyway). Batman, bizarrely, was a 12 when originally released in cinemas and a 15 on all subsequent home video releases, whilst Batman Returns was resubmitted in an uncut version in 2009 which means it got re-released as a 15 when it had been a 12 before. I agree that The Dark Knight (along with Casino Royale) are probably some of the toughest 12s I can think of, along with War of the Worlds.

I guess the thing is with a 12A that generally, it is a 12 but for anyone younger it's the parents responsibility to find out whether they wanna take their kid to it, and the BBFC website helps them do that by breaking down what's in the film. Of course, in practice, doesn't always work like that! It is all a bit ridiculous sometimes, but it's the fact that the BBFC has a proper 'adult' rating, an 18, which doesn't carry the porn-stigma that the MPAAs NC-17 does, which makes it the better rating system. And often it is the film studios who are responsible for imposing cuts (in order to get certain ratings and make more money).

I thought Casino Royale might have been a 12A (I rarely go to the cinema so I never pay attention to ratings until they hit home release), I think after that we had Hancock and Cloverfield which were PG-13 in the US but 15 over here.

Oddly all my Batman Returns are rated 15 and 2 of those are pre-2009.
