Have any of you seen the Wishmaster movies. There are 4 of them . All but #3 for me. Perhaps Pumpkinhead with Lance Hendrickson.Deep Rising has some great gore. Just a few I haven't seen mentioned. The list just keeps getting bigger.

What sucks for some of these titles i'm seeing is that they are already on HD-DVD. Unfortunately Smallville is on HD-DVD already :-( I was really hoping to see it on BD!
On a side note, I have been seeing alot more studios releasing in both formats. Most of these have originally been HD-DVD backers and are now making both! |

Hmmmmm.......so many I'd like to see. And I'm going to list titles that others have listed, sorry.
Mad Max The Road Warrior Excalibur Fight Club Clerks Mallrats Re-Animator V for Vendetta Any superhero movie After watching my first Blu-Ray movie last week I've gone out and bought a bunch of them. And after watching the first 5 minutes of The Terminator, I'm afraid that some of the older movies won't hold up as well as the newer flicks. But man, it is soooooo hard to watch a regular dvd now. |

1. Anime!
particularly anything and everything by Satoshi Kon. I'd love to see Last Exile, Gankutsuou & Ergo Proxy done up. Most anime isn't of sufficient VQ to warrant a BD release but if "they" can spend the time and money to remaster something like Dragonball Z they can certainly touch up superior properties. 2. Asian Cinema Fukasaku Kurosawa (both Akira & Kiyoshi) Kobayashi Shinoda Okamoto Gosha Yoji Yamada Miike anything with Nakadai, Mifune, or Tamba The Shaw Bros. Library or at least films directed by Chia-Liang Liu or starring Gordon Liu. Everything carried by Criterion, the former HVE & Animeigo. The recent Japanese remasters of Zatoichi TV! Mute Samurai & Wicked Priest 2LDK Aragami Onmyoji 1 & 2 Kamikaze Girls Musa: The Warrior Iron Monkey Dragon Inn Tokyo Zombie University of Laughs Drunken Master II Nezu no Ban Ame Agaru (After the Rain) Eat Drink Man Woman Kwaidan (the Eureka Masters of Cinema version) SPL The Banquet Hanabi Yaji & Kita Raise the Red Lantern (this needs a good remastered release) 3. Other Stuff Fight Club Pan's Labyrinth The Devil's Backbone Dead Man Deadwood Once Upon a Time in the West 13th Warrior Stigmata Bond (Connery, Lazenby and the odd Moore like Live & Let Die) Ravenous More David Attenborough Nature Shows Insectia The Thin Red Line Cool Hand Luke (50 eggs!) The Lion in Winter (1968 w/ Hepburn /O'toole not the remake w/ Glenn Close/Patrick Stewart) Kill Bill 1 & 2 (color version of the Crazy 88 battle scene please like the Japanese release) Shaun of the Dead (shakes fist at Universal) Paint Your Wagon Dagon Beowulf & Grendel Donnie Darko (Director's Cut) The Ninth Gate Alien Aliens The Ring Wasabi Deathhunt with Lee Marvin & Charles Bronson (Anchor Bay) Special with Michael Rappaport Everything Last edited by Rustmonsteru; 03-23-2007 at 11:56 PM. would be nice to see some old classics like hitchcock.
But i guess that it is impossible to get good quality from those old movies. |

Actually with a bit of a clean up , most movies have to go through a clean to remove scratches, specs etc (the old movies may require a little more) they will come up very good as most were filmed on 35mm film which is a much higher definition than 1080p.

As was said previously, film has far more resolution than 1080p, so that's not an issue. They just need to be restored and then trasferred to the HD format. ![]() |

Most of Hitch's movies were shot in Academy 35mm which has about a 15mm x 21mm negative area (the LOR negative area = 10mm x 24mm) and many of his most famous color films were shot in VistaVision 35mm (like The Searchers was) which has about an 18mm x 34mm negative area, so if the elements exist and are well preserved you could get stunning results. But not all elements are well preserved etc. etc., story as old as time.
I recently saw a 35mm print of Psycho (11mm x 21mm). It was old and grainy, but, even if the BD looked like that, I'd love to have it. Pre-print elements would look even better. To Catch A Thief (VistaVision) seems to be getting a SE DVD soon by paramount. Maybe we'll have a BD too. North By Northwest (also VistaVision) sees to be undergoing a new transfer by Warner and they say possibly BD for 2009. |
