I believe the Platinum edition was derailed because of the 9-11 attacks. Of course that was 7 years ago, so maybe Fox just feels interest has waned for the movie. I'd really like an Blu-Ray version or at least an anamorphic DVD of it (and the special edition of The Abyss).

Of course, I could go for all of his movies on Blu-Ray (okay, I'd pass on Pirahnas 2).

The Japanese release is 16:9 enhanced and has a kickass dts track (in English). Fox has released 16:9 PAL versions for years. There is no excuse for the state of the current R1 DVD.

Yeah, me too.

And remember that godawful non anamorphic transfer was stamped with the THX seal of approval... Gee, in the early days of DVD THX was putting their names on some total garbage releases. Anyone remember Thinner?

Why is The Abyss or Titanec not out on BD yet? I don't know what else he made but I'm sure there are plenty of other ones (didn't James Cameron produce True Lies and Alien 2?). Maybe he doesn't want his movies out on BD just like George Lucas and Steven Spillberg.

JUST simple answer - those BIG filmmakers waiting till more owner of BluRay PLAYER ...
AND cheaper transfer tech. - HOPE will be in the FUTURE !!

so you have to wait near 2-3 YEARS !!!!!

as more money - and wait for cheaper tech. to make better transfer !!!
