is that not the same story with every sequel game ever made??

Thing is, it is the minor tweaks that make the big differences. the animation of the players on 09 compared to 08 are like night and day! Little things make big differences

Ive been playing fifa since the PS1 days and havent been that much different gameplay wise. Im more a PES fan but last years effort was horrendously bad and even i got rid of it after about 3 days play. Tehn again ididnt care much for Fifa 08 too. Im still to be blown away by a football game on the PS3.
That's exactly what I was just thinking!
I am always intrigued over and over again, when they announce the new version will be the best one, yet! Then when you start playing it, you need to really keep your eyes open to find a few differences... Graphics has been getting better over the years, but thats a given.
Think I might give 09 a rental before deciding to buy it... and yes 2008 was somewhat a let down.

Having played the demo on my 360, I can say that I will be getting this...

I skipped over UEFA since I had '08, but the SLIGHT changes and smarter AI makes the game have a much better flow, although setting the game at its hardest difficulty had me straining to even get a shot off on Toronto FC while playing with AC Milan....

For once, EA has gotten two games that I skipped previously right; NHL 09 and FIFA 09. Hopefully, they keep it going with Dead Space.

FYI, PES 2008 did have technical glitches like framerate problems..which is something that will absolutely be gone in 2009 from what I've read. I still enjoyed it for the realism.

They don't have official licensing for the Premier League ... they have all the teams but they are called Man Red for United and Man Blue for City, etc. The rosters are the real players they just can't use the Club name. They do have the official license to the Champions League this year and it's included as well. I think EA has a separate game purchase for their UEFA stuff.

EA will support full team (10 vs 10) on-line apparently. Given EA's less than stellar on-line xp with their other PS3 sports games .. call me skeptical this will actually live up to the expectation. Although PES has their own work to do on that front as well and won't support that many players. I don't play on-line for football so it doesn't matter to me .. but it might for you.. I prefer the Champions League inclusion since I play standalone.
They do have Man United and Liverpool this year
