The eD goes for $315 shipped. If your Sony one is the performance line version, I believe new they go for $200 (I may be wrong.) As for the Polk sub, you could probably get at least $50 for it. Those are rough estimates, so don't quote me.

I should be able to swing that. May have to put the 2 subs on E-Bay and see what happens.

Some subwoofers are designed to be front-firing and/ or down-firing. It all depends on how it was made, designed, and what materials were used for the sub. I wouldn't say there's an advantage to down-firing but some subs are better when they are down-firing or vice-versa. Some are made to be both (I.E. Martin Logan subs). I can say it is a great sub.
