I saw it last night, horribly predictable and ridiculous...but it kept me entertained with all the explosions. But I wouldnt call it a GOOD movie.

Hmmm i'll be the odd duckling here and say that i really enjoyed it. It had enough action and humour to keep me and the wife into it all the way through. It is by no means Oscar worthy but it is a pretty decent popcorn flick IMO.

6.5/10.

I thought it was on par with Independence Day as far as popcorn flicks go. It was unbelievable but at the same time had enough going on to be enjoyable.

Worth a watch on cheap tuesday for sure(or using your free Transformer's Blu-Ray coupon like I did).

The movies stole it's ideas from Terminator, I Robot and other movies I can't think of right now.

I saw it a couple of nights ago and thought it was good. Will definitely rent it when it's released on Blu-ray, perhaps even buy it.

Just got back from seeing this with the family. Kids liked it. I had mixed feelings and the wife fell asleep!

The story was interesting at first until you realized it was just another
[Show spoiler]"look what the evil government can do"
film. I've got to say that I had a BIG problem with the jerky camera work during all of the action sequences. It was annoying as #ell. I understand doing it to some degree to add to the sense of realism, but this was just way too much. It made most of those sequences unwatchable for me.

6.5 out of 10

People are being too hard on the film in regard to it being unrealistic and such. The same people that say Die Hard is the best action movie ever.. which is possibly even more unrealistic. I thought it was pretty good.. the friends and family I went with today all enjoyed it.

Actually, that's not the plot or the theme. If you got that, you must've watched a different movie.

Actually it wasn't too bad and it wasn't on all of the action sequences. Most of that came from the first chase sequence, which was pretty well done.

The second Bourne movie was the worst in terms of that.

I must have been watching a different movie as well than as that's a big part of the theme I got out of it - to me it was basically saying
[Show spoiler]the patriot act is a bad thing and the governement spying on you can only lead to bad things

overall though, I enjoyed it enough (7/10) and will likely buy it on Blu. As for the negative reviews, I'd be willing to bet that at least some of them were given by people who just don't like Shia and thus aren't a fair representation of the film.

I don't like Shia Lebouf.... I thought he did an excellent job in this movie, though. Of course, maybe the reason I don't like Shia is that he got to wrap his arms around Megan Fox.... I know that I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone that has a base of paranoia about them to STAY FAR AWAY from this movie. Even I had a bit of a problem after the movie. I had set my cell phone down, and when I went to pick it up I hesitated for a second. The thought definitely went through my head "do I *really* want to pick that evil contraption up?"

I would likely give the movie a 8.5/10, B+. It's borderline A- for what I feel is the BELIEVABILITY of it. And yes, I really DID think that "the machines" were going to appear at any minute.

The wife and I saw this today. Mixed reviews - she thought it was great, I was disappointed, probably because I'm more a fan of the genre and actually know something about the technology misrepresented in the film. If you can tune out and turn off your plausibility meter and sense of logic, it's an entertaining escape. Billy Bob Thornton had some good one-liners and his exit in the film was a surprise.

I really don't see a difference between your statement and mine.
[Show spoiler]Both describe a general theme against the government and their ability to monitor terrorist activities. It's meant to scare folks about the "possible" abilities the government has.
I don't agree with the way Hollywood uses movies (at times) to spread their political views, but I will not discuss it further as this is not the place for these discussions.

Of course, this is simply one person's opinion.

Honestly, this is the real theme:
[Show spoiler] It's about the ghost in the machine and how given enough problem solving capability, the machine can do more than monitor. It doesn't matter what the original purpose of the machine was as eventually the outcome for a learning computer will be "my creator is flawed so in order to protect them, I must protect them from themselves." That's why I said you can't miss the first 10 minutes of the movie as it shows the logic and motive behind the human override. The idea of ghosts have been explored in many good sci-fi movies - Terminator 1/2, The Matrix and I, Robot - but has never been put together in a conspiracy theory and using contemporary technology.

Can it be done using actual contemporary technology? No, as not all electronic products are back-door compatible.
