Default Eagle Eye - Movie Review & Discussion Thread

Saw it yesterday morning. LaBeouf is loose! That's okay, you don't have to laugh. But it's a pretty decent thriller.

The basic premise of the story is contained in the trailer. If you've not seen the trailer and go in cold, the better. I don't want to repeat the premise because I don't want to ruin it for you but here's the important thing: DO NOT MISS THE FIRST 10 MINUTES OF THE MOVIE. The reason will be clear when you get to the film's Act 3.

In itself, the film borrows/steals major elements from other movies before as a basis of its story. However, those elements did not work so well creating fear out of you because it was not relatable to what we have today. In Eagle Eye, it works almost perfectly because it fits tightly. Believability is stretched a bit but it's not too far off. Based on a story by Dan McDermott, with John Glenn, Travis Wright and Hillary Seitz as co-writers (four writers total), this is an example of drama and action are combined well. Thankfully DJ Caruso knows his story arcs and character development.

The cast is top notch. Great acting from everyone particularly Shia LaBeouf as Jerry Shaw and Bridget Moynahan as Rachel Holloman. Rosario Dawson, Michael Chiklis, Ethan Embry and Billy Bob Thornton are great as supporting casts. LaBeouf is on a roll and so is DJ!

Cinematrography, editing, SFX and VFX, and sound design are brilliant. It captures the mood so well. These guys and gals did an amazing job.

Eagle Eye is on a lower scale of MUST WATCH but it does qualify. And it'll be a fantastic BD when it comes out this December.
