It seems a lot of people are under the impression DVD Empire is providing industry statistics, instead of just their own.

Amazon has a sale on. How surprising is it that a competitor will lose sales because of this?

This week is the only week with no BR releases. Last week, February 27th, had a few for both formats. So this is the only "dry" week. HD-DVD, on the other hand, has nothing coming out in all of March until the 27th. So no BR releases this week wouldn't enter in to the equation, it's just the sale at Amazon, like everyone has said.

Week ending 4th March was more than 2:1 in favour of Blu-ray according to Neilsen, looks like DVDEmpire is the last bastion for HD-DVD fans.

It's really simple, thanks to Amazon's price cuts on BD: the BD buying consumer is overall buying from Amazon and less on DVD Empire!

DVD Empire is lucky to have a couple of hundred of units sales a day on both formats combined, really!!

Default Blu-Ray Sales

Blu ray sales this week are getting owned, unfortunately, but I"m sure they'll bounce up.

yeah because Amazon is having 50% off for blu-ray sales...so practically no one is buying blu-ray anywhere but at Amazon

I don't pay much attention to individual retailer stats anymore due to the fact that we've been getting videoscan data pretty much every week.

If IIRC the 3/6 notation is the end day for the compilation of stats. I believe the stats showing the HD-DVD lead were put up on Wed or Thurs indicating only the sales for that short period (one or two days). Here are the current stats as of today:

No HD-DVD wins here

Better still! Maybe they're not losing so much business after all.

Such swings suggest that their volume on both formats is low.

I have to wonder how much longer Toshiba will throw good money after bad and continue to try to get HD-DVD airborne. There's nothing harder to stop than a trend, and the trend certainly has been established.

At this point, I would think the only Toshiba players that would be sold would be those dumped on unsuspecting novices by Best Buy smurfs.
