I have downloaded firmware upgrade 0430 for my S300. I unzipped the exe file and burned the ISO file to a DVD-R and to a CD-R. My S300 won't read either disk. Once the upgrade is installed, the S300 should read recorded disks but I have to get the upgrade installed first. (the chicken or the egg conundrum). I must be doing something wrong. Any advice.

You need to burn the ISO image onto a disc. It's not like making a copy of a music CD. Which program are you using? Most have a "Burn ISO image" selection. That's what you need to look for.

No, it means his player is probably passing the soundtrack in Linear PCM mode, not because it is actually doing PCM audio via bitstream. Sleeping Beauty has DTS-HD MA and Iron Man has True HD as it is, anyway.

Uncompressed PCM = True-HD = DTS-HD MA

What does the 48 mean in PCM-48?
It measn 48 kHz - part of the frequency settings. Don't worry about those, though.

Thanks Zman. I downloaded version 4.40 (new) and did what you suggested using Roxio Creator to burn an image file to a CD. I assumed that I could just copy an iso image file to a CD but apparently the copying process is different no matter what the file format is. I will let you know if this works.

Hello again Zman
It worked flawlessly. The BD install time was about 12 mins, not the 30 advised by Sony. I tested my BD-RE and it worked well. The load time is much reduced from the old version 2 firmware. Thanks again.
