Only reason I have a 32" is because the price was right, and it's in my bedroom so anything larger would have been overkill.

I've upgraded several times over the last four years. I started with a 32" 720p, then a 37" 1080p, then a 42" 1080p, all lcd's, and I've finally settled on a 50" Panasonic plasma. I actually went from 1080p to 768p with this one and I can't tell a bit of difference in sharpness even when I'm right up on it. I still have the LG 1080p 42" lcd in the bedroom, but this Panny kills it in both picture quality and big screen goodness!

For me it was about price and viewing distance, I wanted a 46", but could only afford a 40" since I had just closed escrow on my house. Now a year later my wife wants to get rid of our 42" Vizio and move the 40" Sammy to the bedroom and was like you could get whatever you want, so now I am thinking after I get a new receiver and BDP, I may save up for a 46" but in no real rush. Also, I sit 5.5' from the TV. 40 is good, but I would like a 46".
As far as your question about PQ, its great. One thing I do want to say is that if I am watching SAT TV or movies in 1.78/1.85 I feel like I am right in the movie, on the other had movies in 2.35/2.4 sometimes feel a little small, and that is the main reason to upgrade larger. |

had to travel with my TV quite a bit getting it back and forth from college to home for summer and winter breaks. needed somthing to fit in my car 42 inches was the max. that worked.
sit close enough too that 1080p is an improvement over 720p. i also could not find an LCD with that same specs other than resolution and size that the 1080p had at the time of purchase. |

I think if you dont go with DLP and go LCD or Plasma then its a price issue. If you go with DLP then the price is fair. I have a 65 INCH DLP 1080P. It could be a room space issue too. The emit alot of light too, DLP's and neighboors may be jealous like their watching with you, lol (like a spot light)

Not all of us can afford a "home theater." What I can afford is a 46" 1080p plasma TV for my living room. I'll be paying this btch off for months.

My wife wanted a bigger TV in the living room. We had a 51" Hitachi. I sold it and got the Mitsubishi 73". We sit right about 10 feet from it and it works, but we have a pretty big room with curved seating so it works great. If I had a smaller room I would have gone with a smaller TV. I have a 27" SDTV in the bedroom.

For me, I just like 46" for some reason. I find 50"+ just looks too big, and awkward for my personal liking.

Its nice to see all the different reasons, was just wondering. did not want anyone to get offended or anything. i do realize that not all can afford a home theater room or big screen tv. i just figured all the blu ray freaks in here would want big bad ass tv's to watch their fantastic blu's on. as for me i guess if i had to go smaller i could, but why? i have a decent size room and already downsized from 60" to 56". so im good for now...

I bought a Sony 60" KDS60A2000 a couple of years ago but to be honest, I probably should've bought the 55" or the 50." Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the tv but it completely dominates my tv room. 60" probably would've been fine if it were a flat panel. However since it's an rptv it sticks out from the wall pretty far. I don't plan on upgrading any time soon but when I do, I'll probably look at either a plasma or LCD somewhere in the 55" to 58" size range.

It's sad that Sony moved away from those TV's - they're only bested by Panasonic and Pioneer plasma's as far as I'm concerned. Those KDL-XBR2 SXRD 60 and 70 inch models are beautiful. |
