Hey you stole my line! Ahem:

AI is one of the most underrated and misunderstood films of all-time.

Thank you.

And yes, this will be glorious on Blu Ray!

It's boring and repetitive, not misunderstood.

I agree with that. I fell asleep in the theater watching it. It was so slow and boring and repetitive just like I'm being right now.

hope it does get a release.. i'm sure when spielberg runs low on money in maybe 5 years it will be released *LoL*.

I loved it until Spielberg didn't know when to finish it, which he struggles with sometimes.
It should have ended with the AI kid at the bottom of the sea.
The end.

[spoilers] I disagree; the ending was one of my favorite parts and also the most tear-jerking Some people think those beings at the end are aliens but they're advanced forms of "robots" so it made sense with the context of the film (showing how they outlived humans on earth.) Plus David reuniting with his mother, even though it wasn't real, was emotional.

A lot of people like to bash A.I., it really wasn't very popular, was it? I actually enjoy it, and have probably watched the DVD three or so times. I'd really like to hear Ernest's take on A.I.

I am quite aware that at the end those were not "aliens", but advanced mecha's. This discussion has been going on in another thread, in Discussions, so I will not continue here.

I will say that yes, this film will look good in blu and I would buy it. I will just stop watching where I think it should have ended.

It was definitely underrated. You fell downright asleep ? you have no sensitivity.

Default Steven Spielberg's A.I. Artificial Intelligence

The War of the Worlds thread and the release of Saving Private Ryan got me thinking about Spielberg's other movies.

I noticed that A.I. already has a listing here on Blu-ray.com. But it doesn't seem to have any News items or a forum thread attached or a release date.

Has this actually be announced? Or is this just an assumption now that Spielberg's other Dreamworks films have been coming out in rapid(ish) order?

Anyone else looking forward to it on Blu? Its not my favorite film ever (I think Bicentennial Man did 'Asimov' style robots a tad better. Speaking of..... when is THAT getting the Blu-ray treatment?!) but it sure looked pretty, a High-Def transfer could do it wonders.

Some moments in this movie made me think it was directed by Stanley Kubrick himself. Steven Spielberg really knows Kubrick's work, making it his own movie while giving that Kubrick feel to it. He did a fantastic job writing and directing this movie (adapting from Brian Aldiss/Ian Watson's material). Love it.

This HAS to be Spielberg's darkest movie. Has the strangest feel to it, sometimes hard to watch for me. Strikes at our deepest fears like abandonment, inferiority.

To me it feels a lot like a modern day Pinocchio. The similarities are uncanny for sure.... Robotic (modern day puppet) kid, Blue fairy, childless adult(s), Pinocchio/Osment praying to be a "real (maternally wanted) boy"

I have been waiting for this movie to be announced on blu ray for years. This is my favorite Sci Fi movie of all time. I was stationed in Georgia when this movie came out. The reason I saw it was because there was nothing else to see at the Theater. When the movie was over no one got up immediately. Through out the Theater I could hear sniffles and could see some people wiping their faces when I got up. Everyone I have let barrow the movie has loved it. I love the way it spans the ages and when you think its over it is not I was so happy when the robots at the end where able to feel David's heart ache and know the pain he went through. To me the movie is flawless and amazing! From some of the other posts here I guess everyone doesn't like it but to each is own.
