is this a problem?
Yes, that's a problem. What you need to do is an ISO burn of the file. Not all burner programs can do ISO burns though. If yours can't, download CDBurnerXP, and use that to make an ISO burn of the file.

I watched Live and Let Die in my stand alone lastnight because my PS3 was updating my Eye of Judgement game (it has been months and there were 2500 files it needed.) and it was fine for most of the movie until I had to stop it to watch True Blood.

When I started playback, it froze....BAD. Then I got it to start again and selected the scene where I left off and it locked up again. I didn't need the emergency power boot trick, I just stopped it and ejected it and got it going again.

No problems with the PS3 though. I had no idea when I threw in Eye Of Judgement that it would take so long to update...it was crazy.

Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits addressed this issue last week. Apparently there are playback problems on all of the Bond discs. Manufacturers are scrambling to get firmware updates out: Sony's is expected by the middle of this week. I have a S300 and had a hell of time getting From Russia With Love and Thunderball to play, but they finally did. I will try the cold reboot and see if that helps; if not I'll just wait for the firmware up date.

Update: Ok...I did a cold reboot and it helped...a little. The disc loads and gets to the main menu much faster, but it still won't play when I hit "Initiate Mission." I'll try another reboot and see if I can get that to clear up. Otherwise...its wait for Sony.

Try leaving the disc in the player when you unplug it. Then turn it on and let it auto-load the disc.

Sony today posted the newest firmware update for the S300: It's version 4.30. I downloaded it and updated my machine and now the Bond films play just fine. So if you are having problems and you have an S300 go to Sony's site and download the new firmware and you should be good to go instead of shaken not stirred!

I have the same problem with my BDP-S1 and had to cold boot it to work. The player also freezes up at inopportune moments during movie playback; it just happened while I was playing "Dr. No", but this has been a problem the entire time I have owned it, regardless of upgrade versions. If I can get a decent player for cheap on Black Friday, someone can have this POS for free!

+2 Bond's are good to go with 4.30 if you have a s-300. Watching For Your Eyes Only now since that seemed to be most people's problem disc and it's perfect.

I have the Sony BDP-S300 with version 4.20 firmware and Thunderball plays fine. I downloaded the firmware from Blu-ray.com at the top of the page. There are several players' firmware for downloading.

I just bought Dr No and Thunderball last night, having trouble with Dr No, got it to play last night but couldn't get it to play today, but Thunderball is playing fine right now. Going to do firmware upgrade first, was thinking about taking it back for a new copy since Thunderball is playing fine.
