I haven't seen this yet, but I am a huge fan of the Dollars trilogy and Once Upon A Time In The West. I certainly am looking forward to this!

I would have thought it would have been a shoo-in.
It's a shame. I also wish that The Maltese Falcon and/or The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre would get one

Once Upon A Time in the West is owned by Paramount. It would be great if they would release it, but Paramount has been slow to release their catalog on BD.

I know, but a guy can dream can't they? Does Paramount still own Once Upon a Time in the West or did it get moved over to Lionsgate when they bought a bunch of catalogue titles? Seeing how Lionsgate is treating Apocalypse Now, I wouldn't mind seeing what they could do to Leone...

From what I vaguely remember reading about that on the net, it means whatever you want it to mean.

I think that there is so very little chance of that happening, that I would not even worry about it.

I will be keeping my eye on this after the letdown release of Hamlet. As much as some people might want the film on one disc, I have extreme reservations about the loss of quality with 229 minutes of 1080p video on one BD-50, and I really, really hope the announced extras are on a second BD or DVD, because even in SD, they would still eat into the disc space.

I'm sure Paramount wouldn't have licensed OUATITW to anyone else - it's one of their most high profile classic titles.

Incidentally, Apocalypse Now was never owned by Paramount. It's owned by Coppola's Zoetrope organisation, and was released by Paramount on DVD (and previously on laserdisc) via a distribution deal. Coppola has now done an equivalent deal with Lionsgate instead.
