Default When will "Once Upon a Time in America" see the light?

Sergio Leone's crime epic has been stripped down of the director's original vision many times. There is the abysmal 144 minute cut and the 229 minute cut (which I just purchased today on DVD).

So, does anyone know if its goign to hit BDs anytime soon ?

When it does come out, I hope we get some sort of re-edit of this movie which includes some of the footage from the original 6 hour cut- which has never been released. Unless, all the footage has been lost. I know its too much to ask, but its really hard not to wonder what happened to ther other 3 hours while watching this film. Its such a shame that this film never recieved the recognition it deserved.

I also have the 229-minute director's cut on DVD and would love to upgrade it to blu. This is one of my favorite movies from the 80s.

Can't wait for this, but I'd be even more excited about "Once Upon A Time in the West," my favorite western

Both on one day would be amazing!

To be honest I was very disappointed after watching this. The acting is great, the cinematography is great and the story is reasonably good. I love the crime/gangster genre but after investing almost 4 hours in a movie I hoped to walk away with a better impression. The crazy thing is that I read they had over 10 hours of footage and the director wanted it to be even longer than 229 minutes! But anyway, even though I wasn't thrilled with the movie it does deserve to be remastered on BR.

In 2007 Leone's daughter Raffaelle confirmed that they were working on restoring a longer version on blu-ray, the way her dad wanted it, I think Tarantino is on board as well, this is in the DVD documentary Once upon a time, Sergio Leone.

Also in the documentary Arnon Milchan quote "There's another half hour we're planning to put back and come with the full director's version. This time I know what to do".

Ever since then there has been no news, it would be great for this to happen with all those unexplained scenes in the current movie, especially if its on blu-ray.

If someone hears something please let us know.
