While we will have to wait and see about the movie, the trailers appear to be almost entirely made to appeal to the teeny movie audience (including the pretty-boy actors).
That's a good point...just thinking there might be quite a few women who would want to see it on opening weekend, since the books are so popular.

I completely agree. I think it will do really well opening weekend, but then wont do as well later on once word gets out that it doesn't do the book justice.

Unfortunately I'm in the same boat. The wife really wants to go see this one, so I'll be dragged out to go see it.

I'm not too sure either why its so popular as at first I thought the trailer was for a car commerical.

Boo Twilight...way to rob everything from The Southern Vampire Mysteries books.

I will watch True Blood, but will NOT be seeing Twilight. Nor Bolt for that matter. I do think Bolt will top the charts though.

What do you mean by intellectual reader? Aren't all books intellectual?

Sorry, just curious .

Twilight has already sold out a number theatres and midnight showings across the country. Some experts are even expecting it to rival QOS's opening just last week at more than 70mil. I don't think it will do that much, but it will certainly beat out Bolt, this weekend. Bolt will have the legs to carry it through Thanksgiving with better numbers though.

The question really is Harry Potter fans(Robert Pattison) or Disney Channel fans(Miley Cyrus)? Harry Potter for the win.

Twilight - 65M
Bolt - 45M
Quantum - 30M

Critics say that the books are poorly written, and the only reason the book is popular is because 10-16 year old girls are ony desperate to be with that vampire guy and obviously do not focuse on writing structure.

Bolt will win and here is why.

Bolt is actually a very sexy VAMPIRE dog and all the chicks think he is hot. Once word hits the street on friday, all the Twilight audience will abandon their movie and see Bolt on Saturday and Sunday.

Dont say anything about this until Friday though

The way you said she's an intellectual reader and liked Twilight makes it sound like she endorses it as an intellectual book. I would not consider it that. I'm not disagreeing with your wife's opinion but wondering if that is what you meant.

Twilight (according to Fandango) has sold out of 500 midnight screenings and is adding more screenings. They say that Twilight is now accounting for 86% of advance tickets being sold.

Can Bolt upset Twilight? Will Q of S have a chance? What do you think? How much do you think they'll do?

"THE DARK KNIGHT" IS NEAR !!!!!

No I'm saying she was surprised that she liked it, being that it is not an intellectual book. But in your post you said "aren't all books intellectual."
I don't think so. There are many, many books that are made for mindless entertainment, just as there are movies like that.

AND - she's not my wife, I said she was my EX!!

Sorry to bother you. Just wanted to make sure.

The book's biggest flaw/strength, besides saying a girl is plain looking and when she arrives in a new town she automatically has three guys in love with her, is how open everything is. Most people and events are so undefined that it's like madlibs.
