yeah i'm sure M$ spends the money on the servers w/ all the 360 commercials floating around and all the buyouts being done. yeah that's definately what they do.

Isn't anyone that has a PS3 and the internet counted towards those numbers because of the wifi? I have a lot of friends that only use the PS3 for bluray but they are counted as PSN users because they have internet and the wifi picks up on it automatically. I don't have Live because I don't want to pay for it, and the 360 doesn't have wifi so it doesn't count people unless you're connected to live. Not saying anything, just thinking out loud about different possibilities.

I know it looks small, but 160 gigs in a factory fresh console has never been done before. I guess I should've drooled at The Dark Knight BD then.

Who wants to predict the Xbot Response™ to this?

I'm banking on something along the lines of, "Who cares? It doesn't matter how many people are on it because XBL is better, and that's a FACT suckers!!!!" (Screw up the grammar to make it sound more Xbot-esque).

Well they have to sign up to the service if they want to get instant updates. Plus it counts for both wired and wireless.

Also, it is the cheapest wifi enabled BD player (if those even exist) on the market.

No you have to sign up for a PSN account to be counted. They are not counted just because an internet cable is connected .. be it wi-fi or wired. For either system.

I have UK, US and Japanese accounts on both systems, anyone's free to do the same.. for free.

If you believe these figures (given by Microsoft and Sony) then it's an impressive result for the PSN.

not to side with either company here, but those psn numbers are WAY off. i've got 4 just on my ps3 i'm not sure what microsoft is counting, but i'm sure their numbers are off too. but i'd like to see their gold numbers vs real psn numbers

Well on my ps3 I two accounts for myself, dk3dknight, euroboy *use for downloading from euro store only does not play games with this account*

I also made an account for my friend his psn on my ps3 is Captain_Shani
when he comes over I kinda force him to use his account, I don't want anything he does to be connected to me, be it good or bad.

Credit should be given where it is due.

apples to apples as in

free (all) PSN accounts vs free silver XBL accounts

or

free (all) PSN accounts vs paid gold XBL accounts (because the capabilities are closer) ?

Either way it's more favourable for PSN.

ok, now everybody go hug their PS3s and tell them how much you love them... good lord, who cares if PSN has as many or more members than Xbox Live? Do you REALLY WANT a company to win and only have ONE choice when it comes to gaming? You know what happens then? Your games turn to garbage because the manufacuturer no longer has to compete for your money - if you want a gaming console, you MUST buy theirs - when there is competition between companies, the consumer wins - if one company is judged the "winner" then we all lose - look at what EA has done with the exclusive NFL games - they regurgitate the same stuff year after year because they are the ONLY NFL game in town - so honestly, why all this fanboy crap? You should all be happy that there is competition between Sony, MS, and Nintendo - I own all 3 systems and each one gives me a different experience. Just be happy you have a CHOICE. You guys may all trust in ONE company, but I for one know that companies are ruled by profit - and when profit wins out over quality, its not a good thing...
