New Xbox 360 User Interface = Mess - Blu-ray Forum

For those that don't know. The Xbox is getting a huge change! Personally i think it looks terrible. The slick grey realy dosn't blend well with the colourful boxes and childish new avatars!

What do you think?

From one of the reports I read, the new dashboard is optional and can be disabled. The dashboard was not the problem I had with the 360.

I love it and think it's going to be great. the xbox 360 hands down is a much better game console than the ps3.

I'm rather excited for the new GUI.

The current UI on the 360 is some of the most lame GUI design around. I shouldn't have to go through 6-7 different screens to do anything useful(outside of playing games), like watching a video I downloaded . It's a terror to do anything or change anything. PS3 has it right -- simple and obvious yet still looks stylish and new. I shouldn't have to go through several screens just to watch a video that I had to go through half a dozen screens to DL. It just feels like amateur design... but by a company that should be experts.

The current GUI is probably the weakest area of the 360.

Also, according to some E3 interviews, it's not optional... this is the new UI. Which brings up the question about the people who wasted money on backgrounds and senseless stuff like that. Using the Miitoos is optional though -- a person can just use a "gamer pic" if they want.

There are fanboys and then there are people who know what they're talking about. The fact is, hardware wise (and value wise), the PS3 is the better console. Granted, Xbox Live is nice, it does cost $50 a year and does have its flaws. I can't stand the childish, immature preteens that infest Xbox Live with their stupidity. That's just my opinion there though. The PS3 is a Blu-ray player too, which is why it is a preferred console here at BLU-RAY.COM.

no, i was simply stating that your statement was an opinion. was it not? or are you the master of the world and whatever you say is law? I am a Sony fanboy, but that has nothin to do with the fact of me hating the 360. i had an original Xbox and loved it. I just hate M$ in general! and in my opinion the 360 sucks @$$.

I agree, just stating that there are too many fanboys here on this site just because it is Blu-ray.com. I have both ps3 and a xbox 360. IMO, the 360 is much better than the ps3 for gaming. It just bugs me when ppl say it is a fact that the ps3 is better, when a statement like that can not be issued as a fact when it is all based on opinion.

It looks like a bad copy of this flash component.

Notice how in the 360 demo the icons don't mesh with the background as the icons fall off into the back. Infact some of the icons didn't even have their reflections showing up properly or at all.

I don't mind the current dashboard but it is feeling very dated. This new one just looks like a bad mashup of current design trends with no real direction.

You are judging it by an incomplete version. Would you review a game when its like 75% complete?
