2.50 and still 2.52 broke many things.. I never had problems until 2.50/2.52. Now streaming from my media center (pc) to the PS3 has all kinds of problems and lockups.. never had this problem with previous versions..

I hope they fix all the problems introduced in 2.5x versions soon..

I wish I could go back to 2.4x firmware.

whats not to get about that?

what OS are you using? windows? if its windows...delete everything u dont need on the flash drive and right click on the drive in "my computer". then click format. make sure fat32 is selected before completing the format...

then make the folders again and place the update file in the "update" folder...

its really not that hard...

Yeah, 2.52 wouldn't update from my flash drive either. I've used the same drive several times to update my PS3. I've never even had to delete everything else on the drive. There is something different about 2.52. I had to do it over the PSN connection eventually. I usaully do the flash drive update because I don't have a router so my computer and PS3 can't be connected at the same time.

I have 60GB. Never had any problems ever with any of the updates, no wierd video playback issues, never found a BD that straight up wouldn't play, etc etc. I did have a short period where sound in games would randomnly freak out and become heavy in static and bass. That and not being able to update via flash for 2.52 are the only problems I've ever had with my PS3.

fat32 is already selected but how do I make the folders again w/o deleting the file that's in the update folder?

I usually wait a couple of days after the firmware is released to update. Any problems would be obvious by then.

I am like other people with the updates. I like to wait and see what happens to other people's ps3 units before I update, however, I play COD 4 and it requires me to have the latest ps3 update to play online. So I am screwed that way. I wish there was a way to bypass the ps3 update just to play online games.

Well I tried to play American Psychoagain and again no joy. The thing is I am not sure exactly which U/D screwed it up. I know it played fine after the update to add dts HDMA 7.1 was fixed. I'm gonna try The Bank Job to see if that L/G title is affected.

Update V 2.52 killed my PS3 and so did the previous one. I was however able to fix my PS3 with the previous corrupted update that was issused by purchasing and replacing the internal harddrive from Bestbuy.

When downloaded the new 2. 52 update for the PS3, the same thing happened to my PS3 when I downloaded the previous one. My tv screen froze, I was unable to watch blu ray movies or play games. My remote wouldn't function either.

That's why i want to get either the NAD or the Denon blu ray player. I purchased a Sharp Aquous blu ray for 199.00 until i'm able to get a nicer one.
At least Denon said that If an update kills a Denon machine, they will repair it free even if it's not under the warranty. At the same time, they said they will evaluate each persons issue case by case before making a final decision.
Sony however, will not repair a PS3 period if it's not under a warranty. That's what I was told when I spoke to a PS3 manager on the phone when their update killed my PS3.

I skipped the v2.52 update after reading so much negative responds, but I decided to take my chances on the v2.53. Guess what? My 60Gb works fine and it is running as smooth as ever!

same here. Never had any problems. Although I did think that 2.53 was supposed to give you full screen internet browsing capabilities and I don't see that it has.

Unless they changed their policies, Sony repairs off-warranty PS3s for $150.
