Exchange rate is killing me right now so i'm only dealing trades.

I'm going to buy in bulk soon for all the upcoming January/February on Amazon and have it shipped to my mom and than she'll ship it to me. Like I always do , longer but effective.

Sadly the import fees are back up on Amazon.com.

I haven't bought any Blu-rays from Amazon.com since they started charging import fees. However, I've noticed that some Blu-ray prices at Amazon.ca have dropped.

I've received about $150 in store credit from CD Warehouse by selling old CDs and DVDs to them. With that, I've bought Speed Racer and Next Avengers new. I also purchased used copies of Alvin and the Chipmunks and The Devil Wears Prada. I still have over $50 left, which I'll use to buy Hulk Vs. Thor/Wolverine and/or King Kong.

I also have a PC MasterCard and collect PC points. I've used my PC points to save $20 on Wall*E and $30 on Sleeping Beauty.

I wanted to place another $200 order at Amazon.com but I also noticed that the Import Fees Deposit is in effect again for Canadians. I held off placing the order last week hoping the website would stop adding the fee on, like it did at the end of last year (no such luck).

I spoke to their Customer Service to inquire again about why they are charging the fee when the items are shipped locally from Ontario and there's no UPS or DHL to "go after" to reclaim the money since it's shipped via Canada Post, but I didn't get anywhere. They said they'd forward my inquiry to their management for review I won't be holding my breath.

I think this ends it for me. Looking back through my order history, I didn't realize just how much I've spent there

I ordered some Blu-rays from Amazon.ca last week that were released today and they shipped last night and I had them at 11:30am today. They are actually cheaper than from .com with the exchange now plus I had them on release day which was nice for a change.

I'm done with .com unless it's a super price or the Cdn $$ recovers.

Wasn't there a statement, or at least some people receiving emails, after the last reversal of import fees saying that they were not going to be charged for ground shipping? I seem to remember some posts mentioning this the last time Amazon removed this charge.

Unless you ship to a friend or relative in the US, the addition of the import fees on top of the exchange rate make it almost impossible to justify purchaing from Amazon.com when compared to local vendors.

Personally, I've purchased over 100 discs from Amazon and will now wait until they remove this charge before ordering again. When one considers the shipping charge that is already applied to disc orders, they should already be more than covered for any import related charges.

I ordered six Blu-rays on Sunday from Amazon.ca, the 18th I believe, and received them today, the 20th. Can't beat that, but I have made many a purchase of DVD's and books and so on from Amazon.com in the past and have been avoiding it of late because of the Canadian dollar and the Import Fees Deposit. I'm patient and can wait for good prices elsewhere.

Agreed, very quick from the .ca site and prices aren't bad compared to the american counter parts when you convert everything.

We just lost our CDPlus store sign of the times, so I will be using amazon dot ca for alot of stuff now... CDs, movies... etc.

The times are hurting everyone. We lost a local rental store that sold used Blu's for under 20$. I live an hour from any major center and getting deals on Blu-rays is difficult. The local Zellers carries Blu-ray, but I will not make that 15 minute drive to stare at the 32$ or higher price tags. It's always the same. No competition in a small town sucks.

Amazon.ca and this site really help feed my habit, but also allow me to be somewhat frugal. Plus, I live in the country. So seeing them in the mailbox a couple days later is always a plus. I was simply chocked at the shipping time. Two days! Simply the best ordering experience I've ever had.
