I bought my second one for the bedroom for the purpose of netflix streaming, and if I didn't want to wait until late to play stuff I don't want the kids to see.

Technically, I have 3 right now but once the other one gets here it's going on ebay. I really don't need 3, 2 was pushing it :P

funny that MS still isn't able to get their act together and produce a well functioning console. this is really embarrassing.

Actually it's nice to see that they are improving the consoles in the background implementing better changes when they can without any price fluctuations for the different units.

The only sad part is that you can't trade in an older console for a Jasper.

All in the voltage. Look closely through the little hole!
Still a lot of non-surface mount components.

Comparison pics between PS/3 and probably an older 360 board

It doesn't look like Jasper is any kind of major redesign. Did they drop the trace size on the major chips?

Both the GPU from ATi and the CPU use 65nm architecture.

Thread DUMP.

This is exactly what robinandtami was talking about in previous threads. If you have any valid points about how you think the Jasper chipset won't improve the MS box, by all means....

view my post above, it's tough to tell VLSI improvements by looking at a board

Where can you find the actual failure rates? I keep hearing one number over another, and I would like to know factual data.

I'm also very curious to know the PS3 & Wii failure rates as well.

I have two 360's and I've only sent one in once. It was my launch day box that I'd been using for almost two years. Then when I got an Elite I moved my launch box back to my bedroom to use as a Media Center extender. I put it vertically inside the armoire with the side right up against the armoire wall. No surprise it died there like the second time I used it

But when I sent it in...... they sent me back a brand new unit manufactured about a week earlier, with the Falcon chipset. I put that one in my game room in a completely open space. No more problems since....... knock wood.

My wife younger brother told me not to put it vertical and when I did it was both times before they failed. LOL

I think I'll end up getting a Jasper. Just a matter of when.

I wonder if they increased the bandwidth to the HDMI chip, or is it still unable to do 1080p + multi-channel LPCM?

I don't think we will ever see multi-channel LPCM from the 360 due to hardware constraints.

I believe they have with the redesigned GPU and subsystem

However support depends on them putting out the Blu-ray drive

Jaspar has been tested to hell and back as the anti-RROD. I would have no confidence issues buying one on reliability
