Without Robert as Freddy I don't think that it can live up to the original's success.

If anyone has seen his latest work (Zombie Strippers), I think that he is still kicking and could pull it off.

I wish they would cast Jackie Earle Haley as Freddie, so many people lobbied for him! I love the fresh ideas they have in the Script Review video!! Englund is down for a cameo so he's fine with it. I also really like the idea of Freddy being set up. This is going to play out nicely I just hope for some casting news in the next week or so. Not to mention any Guitar Hero deaths is fine by me! So I'm down for that first kill, hahahahaha.

As much as everyone is critiquing it before its even casted/released, I'm sure everyone that posts in here will go see it. I know that I will, lol.

Oh hell yeah I will be there for the midnight showing. I have actually liked several remakes Platinum Dunes has done, and I've seen them all. As much as people on here scream Blasphemy and ***** about remakes, they always make sure to see them just so they can go online and ***** about how much they hated them lol. That's always been funny to me because if you hate something so much before you even see it, than obviously there is no way you can enjoy it going into it with such a closed mind. Maybe it's cause I'm younger than most on here, and I'm not so set in my ways. I got nothing against classics, Godfather is my all-time favorite film. I love Cagney and McQueen movies as much as anything, but I also enjoy horror remakes too. Sue me.........

I think Robert Knepper could play the role... he's the scary guy on Prison Break.

Can't think of anyone else who could but I guess Heath showed us not to judge too quickly.

Funny, Just the other day I was just talking about how much of a fan I am of Kyle Gallner's work in the thread for his new movie the Haunting of Connecticut and than I just found this news article:

Razor-sharp-fingered Freddy Krueger will soon be tormenting a new group of sleep-deprived teenagers in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake; and while rumors have pegged Watchmen's Jackie Earle Haley as the early frontrunner to embody the sadistic bastard son of 1000 maniacs, there's still the other lead roles, made famous by Heather Langenkamp and Johnny Depp to consider. Given his age and rising star status, actor Kyle Gallner (Veronica Mars, Smallville, CSI: NY) could certainly qualify as Nightmare's doomed boyfriend Glen Lantz (a.k.a. Depp's first big-screen role). While exclusively speaking to FEARnet about his upcoming horror movies Haunting in Connecticut and Jennifer's Body, Gallner weighed in on possibly joining the frightening franchise. Hear what he had to say after the jump!

"I'm actually waiting to hear back about the new Nightmare on Elm Street," reveals Gallner. "Friday the 13th is scary because it's this crazy guy going around killing people and there's that supernatural element in there too. With Nightmare on Elm Street, it's so freaky. As long as you are awake, you are safe. But whether you want to or not, your body is going to fall asleep, and that's when Freddy Krueger gets you. That whole concept is terrifying. If you get hurt or killed in your dreams, there's nothing you can do about it. You are completely helpless."

As long as they make money they'll keep screwing them up.
I liked the remake of Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I haven't seen the others so I can't say anything about those

Dear Hollywood,

PLEASE keep going! I am tired of PG-13 movies that ruin anything horror. I would rather have a remake that is rated R which might not live up to the original but at least be inspired by it and have cool deaths! I have liked mostly all the Platinum Dunes remakes and can't wait to see this one. They might not have the exact effect the movies did in the 80's but they have been fun to watch nonetheless. PLEASE KEEP GOING!!!

I predict that it will be nothing like the original, and people will defend that saying it's a "reimagining" like they did with Friday. Freddy won't be Freddy.. but some imposter trying to be him. Just because you put on fingerknives don't make you Fred Kreuger! Same with Jason and his hockey mask.

It's going to 1000x more gory than the original to make up for its lack of creativity.. only a few things will connect it to the Elm series. They might re-do Depp's death scene and use the music..

Haha both are the same guy Jackie Earl Haley who played Rorshach in Watchmen. He has even said he would love to take over the role of Freddy and he is the current fan favorite, so don't be surprised if he's our new Freddy!

I totally agree. Haley would be a perfect choice for Freddy but I'm still praying that possibly Englund comes back, I know it's doubtful but one can dream right

Anyways, after watching the script review, I have faith in the project and definitely looking forward to seeing a trailer

Well if you watched the Latino Review script review you heard that Englund is up for the role of the sleep doctor who might be like where Nancy went in the original for help. That would be awesome to me for Englund to be part of it! I also love the notion that maybe Freddy was set up by the kids and he is out for revenge, I love that idea! They chose not to have him play Freddy again because they wanted a fresh start and to drop all those smart ass comments that Freddy continued to make more of throughout the franchise that ruined the character. Freddy hardly talks in the remake and is much more creepy, and thats what I want. I do love however that Englund will be part of it, and that he approves of this!

Ya, I watched it and was happy to hear he would be a part of it but I still wish he would wear the claws one more time but I can see how they would want a new version of Freddy. Anyways, as long as Englund approves and be in it in someway, I'm stoked

He looks the part... haven't seen Watchmen but I know his performance was highly praised. =]

Edit. Watched the script review. It could actually be phenomenal o.o.
