Default Nightmare on Elm Street gets greenlight

Producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form today confirmed to ShockTillYouDrop.com that the A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot has received the green light with shooting to start in the spring. Wesley Strick (Cape Fear) wrote the script which is intended to re-imagine the dream-hopping teen killer.

They could make this very good or terrible...really don't think it will be "average".

And again, Hollywood realizes they cannot think of an original idea to save their lives. There is nothing wrong with the original Nightmare. This doesn't need a reboot.

The official greenlight is new

Ugh... I really don't want non-Robert Englund N.O.E.S. films.

I will see it beacuse I love the originals, but I seriously doubt it will be anything in comparison to the real ones.

Why not? they've already messed up Halloween, Black Christmas, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, When A Stranger Calls and so many other classics. The "remake/reboot" of Friday the 13th is due in Feb so why not add this one to the list? They just won't stop until people quit going to see them. As long as they make money they'll keep screwing them up.

If Robert Englund isn't Freddy, this will suck I might see it if Englund comes back.

Every once in awhile they do hit a home run and actual do a good job. You can lump Batman into those that have been redone, and i really dont know of one person who thinks the older batman movies can touch the two newer ones.

One of my best friends is a BIG batman fan and he hated TDK beacuse he felt it was very Batman in name.

If Robert Engulend (sp?) isn't going to be in it. Then just leave the franchise alone. Obviously all the industry cares about is the $$$ so they don't care and they'll be making NoES movies for forever. But personally if Robert's not involved just stop. If he is involved in this though much like the reboot in the F13th series (which looks actually pretty good) then I'll be stoked for it. I have faith in the Platinum Dunes group as I did enjoy the TCM movies.

That is a matter of your own opinion. I loved the new Texas Chainsaws because 1 they didn't really mess up anything I really liked the remakes especially The Beginning. I also enjoyed Halloween (Rob Zombies), but it is people like you im sure that compare it to John Carpenters version which is exactly what Rob Zombie didn't want people to do. It was his own movie seen from his own perspective which I thought was a good attempt and better than all of these other cheesy horror movies that have come out recently. As for Black Christmas yeah that movie blew but it did have one awesome part "Santa's dead the russians shot his sleigh down" bahahahaha. And the new Friday is done by the same producers of the Texas Chainsaw remakes so I am atleast hopeful that it'll be a decent attempt at recreating the story, I could be wrong but I will give them props for having Jason finally running!

Actually, it's all about New Line--
Which believes it has a "franchise" with Michael Bay's Texas Chainsaw remakes, but doesn't have anywhere else to go with the story, and now wants to see whether the "formula will work" with every OTHER rotatable horror franchise that New Line owns...
Which, as it so happens, includes Elm Street, Jason, and...did they buy Halloween after Dimension Pictures went under?--No wait, that was the Weinsteins, wasn't it?

(Please: Don't even TRY to genericize this into "Evil Hollywood and their unoriginality"..."New Line" is allll the explanation you'll ever need.
And just because they don't have Bob Shaye anymore doesn't mean they're not still New Line.)
