Best Buy has done this to me before. I wasn't about to mention anything. I figure with all I purchase, a free BD here and there ain't gonna hurt nobody.

I believe it was Kill Bill 1 and 2 for 14.99

Both PT and DP are 2:35 in the theatrical cut (I own the 6 disc japanese box set which has the double feature theatrical version). When they split the 2 films up for the US dvd releases PT was released in Rodriguez original AR of 1:78. DP was always 2:35

Since I own the boxset I wasnt going to buy the blus unless they release the theatrical cut but my g/f bought me Planet Terror since she knows im a sucker for these two films.

I rented it. This movie is too gore, too much violence. But I like the girls...

As for the PQ, it looks like garbage. Turned out it's the film's intention... oh well.

But it's got "scratch-free" version which is included in the disc... That has nice PQ. It's pretty darn good actually.

You are completely missing the point and therefore the beauty of this movie.

The idea was to recreate the Grindhouse moviegoing experience of the 70s by creating two exploitation films, throwing in a few fake trailers, and adding the authentic look of film that hadnt been taken care of (like most of the Grindhouse movies werent).

So you didnt like the Grindhouse movies but you liked The House Bunny?

I LIKE THIS. Not bad of story, great acting, pretty girls some naked shots which is a huge plus.... and even more importantly, great PQ. The review of this movie at blu-ray.com didn't give great score on the PQ. I guess the the reviewer who watched the movie didn't have good TV setup haha lol..... try mine and it'll give you plenty of pop. The color tones are also pretty damn good.

So I went and bought it.

There is no doubt in my mind that Weisntein will re-release these as one whole Grindhouse Double Feature experience (like it was shown in theaters).

The question is not IF but When.

Studios love to double dip and I am sure The Weinstein Company is aware of the demand for this release. I for one am holding off on buying these two until they are released properly.

I'm still waiting for a complete Grindhouse release until I double dip. With the quality intentionally bad, it's not a priority to immediately upgrade it to Blu.

Well it looks like "damaged" film but there is still a huge improvement in clarity and color (not to mention sound). Definitely worth the upgrade.

But I'm right there with you. Not until it has a proper release.

The scratch free version of Planet Terror only has DD 5.1, not TrueHD.

I watched both movies the other day. I love the over the top gore in Planet Terror and the cool Tarantino dialog in Death Proof. One thing I was missing however is the trailers. Did I miss something or are most of the cool trailers left out of these two films? I remember enjoying the trailers quite a bit when I watched Grindhouse at the theaters.

I did not watch the scratch free versions. I prefer to watch the films as intended.

You are SO on the mark. Sad when someone misses the forest for the trees; i.e. Loving Blu-Ray and having a great set-up, but missing great cinema and having dud movies like Ace Ventura and The Family Stone in their collection.

I could have missed them too. I briefly looked for them but I did not see any in the 5 minutes I was looking.

i have both on regular dvd and don't really plan on upgrading. either the regular ones have all the trailers, or i just forgot what all the trailers were in the theater. there was either one, or none on death proof and several on planet terror.

Ive watched both in blu-ray, and found that they definetly look better. I am just not a fan of Death Proof, I find myself forcing the way through just to get to the end, dont get me wrong, the Kurt Russell parts are very good but listening to those girls go on and on and on seems never ending. I'm not a fan of "go nowhere chit chat" for long periods of time. I do like Planet Terror though, It seems to get the point better. Maybe Death Proof is more Grind House but not my style, I do love the Planet Terror style much more, a much more fun movie that seems to get it!

I watched the scratch-free version on BD but it still has some scratches lol. Most of them are removed though. The picture is actually pretty damn nice. I watched the whole thing and actually enjoyed it. Oh man that stripper girl has nice body. Mmmm~~ yummy.
