While I understand your opinion and appreciate the input, it comes off as kind of condescending. I can't imagine too many mid-fi towers being able to put out 200+ watts of dedicated bass the way a subwoofer can. When you step up into Martin Logans that have it built in and so forth... yes. But there's no way that someone that's looking for a budget sub is going to own those speakers.

Throw the PA-120 into this mix- $229 shipped. I'll update once I receive it.

Here is a driver. Here is a box you can make. As for an amp, I would ask what power rating you want and how much you're willing to pay (up to 1300 watts).
