The 800 sub seems to be better IMO i'm looking for a musical hard hitting, smooth, deep, and accurate sub with low distortion and no boom or discoloration of the sound
Here's the 800 this what i'm leaning towards it sounds very clean musical and deep http://www.definitivetech.com/Produc...d=ProSub%20800 Here's the ED which has people raving on this site but seems ugly and it looks like it can get boomy http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=309 |

8" driver (passive 8 as well) compared to 12" driver in the eD. Output will be on the eD's side. As far as ugly, they were considered such, when they came with the Truckliner surface, they don't use that any longer, and are now a nice satin/matte finish. Boomy, never, heard one sound boomy. I've helped set up a few, and whenever your dealing with subs, you definitly want to make sure it's placed in the proper place to prevent boominess. Your room is a big reason any sub would have a boomy sound. The eD's are engineered to have a ruler flat response, so boominess is not the sub's fault. 800 is rated at 300watts...doesn't say RMS or peak, eD is 250wattsRMS. BTW, eD is flat +/- 3db down to 18hz. The rating of the 800 is down to 20hz, but doesn't have a freq graph, or state that it's within +/- 3db. For the money, best bang for buck is the eD. Smooth, flat response, easily integrates with speakers, goes lower, and more acurate. Maybe the best thing to do, is get both, do a comparison of your own, after dialing in each, and write up a review of the shootout! You can return either when your done, free of charge I believe. I know the eD you can...within 30 days. |
