He may not play Thor. They never state who he is playing, just a part in the movie. He could play Odin

Default With Regard to the op...

These all sound like really good steps in the right direction.

I have said it before and I'll continue my stance:

If the Thor movie is not done properly...and I mean...like...Wallride-Tailwhip- land fakie-and-no touch properly...it will turn into a 2 hour gay joke.

I think it sounds very interesting. Instead of having an origin story where you have to wait half the movie to see the hero, here you get the hero and have to wait till over half until you get to see the alter ego. Very interesting. I like it.

Default Joe Quesada Describes His ‘Thor’ Movie Meeting With Kenneth Branagh

From Mtv

Quote:
The “Thor” movie — and director Kenneth Branagh’s vision for it — has been quite the topic of discussion among comics fans since the veteran Shakespearian actor and director was first rumored as likely helm to project, then confirmed his involvement to MTV News back in December. After Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada and the publisher’s primary architect, Brian Michael Bendis, revealed last week that they’d met with Branagh to discuss the “Thor” movie, we grabbed Quesada for a quick recap of that meeting during this weekend’s New York Comic Con.

We spent seven or eight hours with Kenneth where he meticulously took us through the beats of the ‘Thor’ movie along with [Marvel Studios head] Kevin Feige and our friends at Marvel West,” Quesada told MTV. “We just sat there, and it was almost like acted out the entire movie.

As Quesada and Bendis shared with fans via Twitter last week, the pair had no shortage of compliments for Branagh’s willingness to get to know the Marvel universe.

You just thought, ‘Wow. This guy has immersed himself in the Marvel culture — not just in Thor — but in the Marvel universe in general,” said Quesada. “He knew a lot of stuff — some things that I didn’t even know.”

He was reciting Thor stuff from the past, continuity events, quotes from different books, little bits and pieces from stories that he really found fascinating — whether they were old [Jack] Kirby and [Stan] Lee stories or [Walter] Simonson stories or modern stuff that we’re doing,” continued Quesada. “He really got it.

From MTV.com today:

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Thor’ Director Kenneth Branagh ‘Thinking Ahead’ To ‘Iron Man 2’ & Other Marvel Movies

Despite the relatively few official announcements Marvel’s made regarding its next “Avengers” tie-in, fans can’t throw a hammer these days without smacking some “Thor” movie gossip.

In fact, director Kenneth Branagh seems to be at the fore of a “Thor” chatter charge lately. From Branagh lunching with potential “Thor” stars and a public Odinson casting call to rumors about some high-profile “Thor” cast members, Branagh seems to be working to prove to fans that he’s ready to help assemble some Avengers.

“[Branagh] understood that there was this very, very big tapestry of the Marvel movies,” Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada told MTV News. “There’s continuity within the movies and he really wanted to play within that and wanted it to be part of the other movies.”

Quesada seemed to affirm Marvel Universe “architect” Brian Bendis’ confidence in “Thor” after a recent meeting of the three creators.

And those “other movies” Quesada referred to, which include last summers’ “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk” as well as the upcoming big-screen “Iron Man 2” and “Captain America” projects, will require some attention in the film if Marvel hopes to pull off its intended “Avengers” franchise. But Quesada thinks Branagh is already on the right track.

“He was really, really loving the interconnectivity between all of these characters,” said Quesada, “and even thinking ahead as to how does ‘Thor’ interrelate with the ‘Iron Man’ movies. How will he interrelate with the Avengers movies, and how do we set these things up.”

Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm really stoked about everything I hear Branagh doing with this. I'm really excited to see him dabble in the Marvel Universe! It's just such a long wait...

Loving the interconnectivity. Wishing DC would do the same to build up Justice League.

That would seem to imply that DC could at least get one of their franchises {other than Batman} to not suck balls.

True. Superman Returns was good, but the storyline was way out in left field. It seems like the only good movies coming from DC lately have been the direct-to-video cartoons (aside from Watchmen and Batman).

So if this guy Branagh plays Thor will the God of Thunder be Computer Generated like The Hulk? I think this is a difficult live action charactor to pull off using a well known actor that is not very tall and extremely ripped already.

Sounds promising. And I doubt that Kenneth Branagh will be playing Donald Blake or Thor. He may play a supporting role that help contribute to the story. If this is done right, I would be pumped for the Captain America movie.

Branagh is saying shooting will start in January and also confirms that Tom Hiddleston is in the running for Thor.

Quote:
We asked Branagh how he plans on balancing shooting the newly announced second series of Wallander telepics with his other filmmaking obligations. "Well, I'm working currently on Thor for Marvel and we're planning that one. We're having a great time at the moment. We're in intense pre-production," Branagh said. "I shoot Thor in January of next year and because the time of release has been moved, it's allowed me to have a moment in the summer where I can shoot the Wallanders."

He added, "And, strangely, there's a weird, pleasing connection between the Swedish Wallander and the Nordic Thor. And as I've played a lot of Danish Hamlets, I feel as though my Scandinavian trilogy is forming."

Branagh also confirmed the rumor that his award-winning Wallander co-star Tom Hiddleston is in the running for a role in Thor. "Tom Hiddleston is a great actor and he, amongst a number of others, has been part of the group we've spoken to and all that's still a work in progress."

Jessica Biel In Talks For Thor?

Any reason to post a pic of Jessica Biel eh?

Quote:
According to an unnamed source who spilled to Nuke The Fridge, Jessica Biel is currently negotiating a role in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. If true, and let’s pretend for a moment that it is, this would seem to simultaneously stomp on the rumour that Natalie Portman was up for the female lead and those never ending Jessica Biel Wonderwoman stories (though stomping on those is rather like stomping on mist and just about as necessary). Who would she play? There’s a handful of options but other information on the film would seem to suggest it isn’t Nurse Jane Foster.

In the comics, Foster is the carer and lover of Donald Blake, the human alter ego of Thor. Seeing as Blake is persistently rumoured to not be part of the movie, or (according to some gossip) if he will appear it will only be at the very end, then I’d imagine Foster is a real long shot. Furthermore, Nuke the Fridge’s source claims that Biel will be playing “the same female character from the animated Hulk vs Thor,” of which there were actually two.

The first of those was Sif, an Asgardian warrior who would provide a pretty straight up love interest for the behammered one. The second was Amora the Enchantress, one of Thor’s ‘villains’. With Loki in place as the key antagonist, I fancy Sif the slightly more likely choice.

Having said that, Biel looks somewhat more like Amora than she does Sif, at least in the incarnations I’m more familiar with. What do you think about Jessica Biel: more a lover or a fighter?

There’s an outside chance, of course, that Biel will be signed up for Amora and Portman will play Sif. That’s gonna shift a few posters.

Biel’s last few pictures have met some rather disappointing ends with Next and I Now Declare You Chuck and Larry displeasing just about everybody, Easy Virtue being somewhat underplayed, Nailed getting shutdown, shutdown, shutdown and then, very possibly, just shelved and Powder Blue going straight to DVD. She could use a little Norse godliness in her life, I think.
I think I already know who the better actress would be if the question was asked, so I'll ask this...Who would you rather look at for two hours? Jessica Biel or Natalie Portman?
