The regular edition has the Japanese hard as normal, the hard is the Japanese very hard, and up from there. The special edition is essentially returned to how it was in the Japanese version plus they added Nero as an unlockable playable character. Though his fighting style isn't as developed as any of Dante's. Oh, and they also added a chekcpoint system so you don't have to start a mission all over if you die.

I think the game really shines on the harder difficulty and really should be played that way. On easier difficulties you aren't forced to utilize your moves and abilities to survive. I also kind of cringe at the checkpoint system because it would take away from the accomplishment and they had an item to create your own continues anwyas.... but if you get the special edition, at least play it on hard so that the difficulty is like the first edition on normal. I know several people who didn't give the hard difficulty an chance and gave into the easier modes----then they came away wondering what the big deal was. The game is filtered out into a button masher on easier difficulties. This is a hard ass game meant to be played hard. It forces you to be awesome. You are dying because you suck. Eventually though you figure out what the game wants from you, gain a little power, and its suddenly not so bad. Its a lot of fun and really rewarding.

That's part of the reason why I don't think as highly of DMC4. DMC3 is so deliciously hard that the starting difficulty in 4 is a cakewalk and you just don't get a chance to use some of your higher level moves because the enemies die too easily. about half-way through the game it ramps up and becomes about as hard as DMC1 (see still not quite as hard as 3), but its a shame the whole first half had to be watered down like it is.

I have Silent Hill 2-3-4, but cant play anymore after what I saw in the 2nd one, scariest shyte I've ever seen
Haha, no kidding man! The Silent Hill series instills a sense of warm agitation and dread like I've never experienced from any other games. Everything from the aesthetic, to the lighting, to the sound design (environment sounds and background music/noise) creates this curious wave of horror that is unmatched.

with games like final fight, street fighter, resident evil, devil may cry, 1942 under their belt, capcom is by far my favorite developer.

So you guys disagree with the changes in mechanics and the shift from zombies?
I though RE4 is one of the best games ever . . . easy top 10 for me.
I played all of the RE games but never experienced any moment as scary or adrenalin pumping in any of the others than facing the dr. salavdors in RE4. At heart the RE series is akin to traditional PC adventure games (king's quest/Gabriel Knight) plus a combat mechanic . . . it does not bother me that the new versions emphasize the combat aspect of the "survival" by moving to a more immersive engine/mechanic. I would love for them to do a Racoon City game with RE4/5 implementation . . .

RE4 is a totally different experience. i enjoyed it greatly. but i also loved RE2 as well. the camera angles in the older RE games really set the mood.

RE5 looks to be the same so im not excited. even the games original producer said he doesn't want to play it cause he'll end up disappointed. its not the game he would of made.
I guess I would have to respectfully disagree. I've played through the whole series, and stepping away from the tank controls, pre-rendered backgrounds and typewriter ribbon save points was a welcomed evolution for the series. RE4 was fantastic, and it's over the shoulder 3rd person style has been widely copied by Gears of War, Dark Sector, Uncharted, and other great games.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Ive played RE0-4, CV and Umbrella chronicles, and so far 4 is by far the best. Leon is the most bad-ass character in the series so far. Maybe its the fact that they speak in spanish (which I understand) that creeps me out more, maybe its the faster paced action, but I found 4 to be far more frightening and exciting then the previous games.

Cant wait for 5.

Your telling me you wouldn't want to play this? this looks like the traditional RE i like. if it aint broke dont fix it.

As much as I loved playing RE4, I would've preferred it this way. I loved the poop in my pants scares that the other REs provided. With RE4, the scares went away and replaced with intense action. I don't recall a time in RE4 where I was literally scared to move to the next section.

IMO the best RE game to date is the RE1 remake for the cube. I rushed into the games before knowing that you had to properly dispose the zombies. I thought I was walking into an area that I cleared out and "bam" Crimson head!!!

Now that was scary.

However, still looking forward to RE5.

I loved Re4. I beat every mode and unlock hand cannon.
I play all RE games and guess RE4 is best of the series.
I really hope RE5 is better than 4.

I think you need to tighten those britches. If the old RE games scared you enough to barely move, Silent Hill games will have you not wanting to play anymore.

Its too bad Capcom let Clover (now Platinum Games) go. Bayonetta is my most anticipated game of the year.

I've played Silent Hill. I like the first 2. The others, not so much. I haven't played Homecoming yet though.
