I'm intrigued as well. Can anyone post a pic of the interface on the TV along with the ipod video interface (if any). I noticed the 1019 will have the ipod information present on your tv (if you choose to that is). Is the 1018 the same?

I had read somewhere (please don't quote me) that depending on your receiver you may get better audio quality by doing the decoding internally as opposed to having the PS3 decode the audio.

I saw that in a video from cnet, about the iPod interface, looks cool, but I am not going to listen to music and look at the screen! lol. Maybe the iPod dock that Pioneer has would help with that? I am just assuming that they took the dock and implemented it into the 1019...I don't know

I saw a thread on here about that as well...Bitstream vs. Player Decoding. I want the receiver to have the ability to decode, just in case I decide to sell my PS3, which I am considering, since I do not play games on it at all...

Yes the 1018 has an ipod interface, the ipod plugs into the usb in the front and an on tv screen display shows up where you can click through your playlists, genres, artist... all of it, its a big ipod screen but not something you want to be watching when you have music on... but the sound quailty was a lot better than I expected once coming through in 5.1...

That's good to know. Thank you. This receiver can't get here fast enough

The cool thing about the USB ipod port is that it goes into the ipod and pulls the digital files out. That way your files go through the receiver's DACs rather then the crappy ipod ones. Makes a big difference in sound quality.

That was a user that wrote that comment in the pros and cons section. I hope its not true because I wanted to wait for the 1019 and its better ipod interface

Jeez I can't find this receiver anywhere other than Best Buy and I refuse to pay full price at $599. It looks like I'll be getting a Sony instead.

If you can wait the 1019 will be out in April...the 1018's I think are scarce because of the new model coming out

If you can get your hands on a 1018 for a good price don't hesitate. I convinced a buddy of mine to go Blu last X-Mas ( a new memeber ) and he didn't want to spend too much, so made him get a 1018 and a Sony 350 ( great boxing day deals ) and I have to say that that setup blew me away for the price. I own a Denon 987 and still prefer mine over his, but if I was in purchase mode I wouldn't hesitate a single minute on the 1018, it's a great receiver for the price, sounds way more expensive, at least to my ears.

I have the 1018 & love it, it does everything I need it for. I will switch it out for the 1019 in April cause I could use the extra HDMI (4) input. Plus the Pioneer A/V's just look SOOOOOO damn good! I don't know if the statement that was made is true or not regarding the use of Elite internals in the 1018 & "lower" quality parts in the 1019...? I'd like to know "for fact" though!?!?!

I just got this receiver this weekend at Best Buy for $479. Some BB's have them but aren't on display and they have them at clearance prices. The salesman at 1 store here in Houston showed me the list of the prices at different stores and it went all the way down to $359 at one store, but they didn't have any in stock. Go to BB and tell them to look this receiver up and ask them for a price match on $399. Some people had luck with this, I didn't, but I think I still got a good deal.

I was considering waiting for the 1019 seeing as the 1018 is now too hard to find. I'd read elsewhere that the 1019 only has a preout for the sub!! This in addition to some other stuff I read would be a dealbreaker for me as far as waiting to April if in fact it is true.

would it be possible to confirm at this early stage? I ask because I may opt for either the Pio vsx-01 or vsx-03 but am also wondering about the 1019

I'd provide the link but since it is from another A/V forum I'm not sure if that might break the rules. So, I'd thought I just ask members here if they have heard anything new

I heard about the pre outs too. I don't need any others besides the sub. I want to know what the osd is like though. I have sort of seen the iPod interface shots on a cnet vid on YouTube

subs can be powered on passive. A pre-out connects to a powered sub, where a passive subwoofer requires some sort of external amplifier.

I'm looking for a reciever that has additional preouts so that I could have the option to later connect an amp(s); it was my understanding that the 1018 allowed for this but the 1019 may not....

if you're just interested in just connecting a sub I'd think you'd be fine but there are others here who could better answer that for you..

^^^^^^
do you have somewhere that you can even find the 1018? I ask because I had one on order since the 1st week of 01/09 and last Tuesday they said they could not deliver due to it not being available. Now it's next to impossible to find....at least that has been my experience in the last couple of days
