This thing looks really cool. Eye of Judgment looks really fun as well. I hope that you will be able to put your face into games better then you could originally. Is it going to be possible to stream your video to another source from the PS3? to record and edit? Might just be easier if the camera works in PCs I guess

The eyetoy camera looks really cool. It's another reason to own a ps3. I never owned the eyetoy camera for the ps2 even though I could have. I don't believet that there was a lot that you could do with the camera. Sony hasn't confirmed a lot about the ps3 eyetoy camera yet. I would think that you'll be able to put your face in a game. Other then the miis that you can create on the wii, there has never been a face scanning option that I know of. Back in 1996, when the nintendo 64 was out, Rareware made perfect dark and the game was going to have a face scanning feature, but the idea was scrapped. In response to streaming video, we'll have to wait and see if sony allows us to do that. A firmware update for the ps3 could allow the camera to do such an option. Maybe the camera will double as a webcam. The camera has a USB plug so it would work with any pc. The only things that are known so far about the camera is the name, what the camera can do (although this info is somewhat limited), that cards can be used with the camera (I have heard that there will be a starter pack of cards and other cards are sold as add on sets to use with the camera.), there will be a playmat, and there is eyecreate software included. Sony has yet to confirm the following: What the camera can not due (May be corrected or fixed with a firmware update), if there will be add on slots (like a slot for a compact flash card), what the box will look like, and more importantly, the price and release date. The only thing that is known about the date is that the camera will launch sometime this summer and as for price, who knows, although I wouldn't think that sony would charge us more then $100 for the entire set. It's possible that the camera will be offered in different packages, like a barebones set or an ultimate set. If there will be more then one model of the camera. An eyetoy camera would be a dream come true for us ps3 fans.

The Gameboy Camera support in Perfect Dark was going to be pretty sweet. Even without it, to this day I don't think any game is more feature-packed.

Some games have done it more recently with varying quality results, Rainbow Six Vegas for example. Snakeball is the first PS3 game I know of that will support face mapping unless RSVegas is released on PS3, with the feature sometime soon.

I don't understand your link between the camera and memory card slots, especially as the PS3 console has them.

Here's another game with direct video feed support for up to six players.

High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition from Sony Online Entertainment. It's a PlayStation Network download game.

What I mean is that I wonder if the camera will have memory card slots> maybe not?

It would have been MUCH MORE interesting if it was High Stakes On The Vegas: Strip Poker Edition. Play THAT game online!

There is a web cam available for the xbox 360 so I would think that sony is making the eyetoy to combat microsoft making the web cam for the 360. Rainbow six las vegas is going to be release for the ps3 this july. It was going to be a launch game, but it was pushed back to 2007, like a lot of other games. How would face mapping work for this game? It would be nice to have the feature included.

You take a picture (front and side probably) and your face is mapped on the guy you're playing automatically.

The new PLAYSTATION Eye would have released regardless of what Microsoft's doing with the Vision Cam (not very much), EyeToy has been very popular in Europe, just not the US.

Well the face mapping needs to be included with some game because I have never read or played any game since 1996 that has included face mapping. I think with perfect dark, you looked at something on the screen and that took your face, but the idea was scrapped before the game came out. It would be cool to have the face mapping feature in rainbow six or in any game. I didn't know the xbox 360 camera was called a vision cam as I don't know much abou the system and I'm not a 360 fan.

I find it funny that MS rips off Sony with the camera, and it is percieved as MS's idea.....strange.

Great SingStar prices on Gameplay (UK)

SingStar PS3 with Mics £34.99

SingStar PS3 Solus £16.99

I assume the mics are the new bluetooth ones but can't say for sure.

Another angle plus lit blue LED of the PlayStation Eye camera. I guess the other lights red so you can tell from a distance whether it's in 56 or 75 degree field of view modes.

According to GamesRadar "the quality of the image is damn impressive"..

Unfortunately their screenshot and video aren't up to the task of demonstrating it. Looks like they haven't explored the video chat options with friends.

Everyone keeps wishing it was bluetooth capable. How many devices can the PS3 support in bluetooth? I thought it was 7...correct?
If we keep getting all these devices, we'll have to eventually get USB devices.
Ecspecially if you have 4 controllers (pretty rare with online gaming now), headset, remote, etc, etc.

Interesting link. The price isn't mentioned. With the camera, is it required that you plug it in to the ps3 for it to work or can you turn it on manually?

I don't understand what you mean, it'll only work while plugged in.
