This makes some sense. I do not see were Onkyo would fit HD DVD with the push for cheaper and cheaper players. I would not want to make a quality player for which my name is famous for, just to compete with a bunch of really cheap(and probably not firmware upgradable) players from the chinese.

I believe all information must be verified though.

We here in the Asian region would rather buy an officially-launched PS3 than an HD-E10 player from Toshiba.

I don't even think that HD-DVD is selling any titles here in the region (for Blu-ray, I've seen AVP and Click to name a few)

I would think most people with their heads on straight would come to the same conclusion.

Sir Terrence! Welcome to the forum dude, our Blu-ray sanctuary. Nice to see you take a break away from the maniacal HD DVD proponents over at HighDefDigest. Look forward to more of your informative posts.

Anything buzzin at Disney?

In general you'd wonder why any top-tier CE would be interested in entering any new market where the stated goal of the major players is to pressure CE margins as fast as possible.

You're right about the information, though. Nothing has been proved either way.

If I ran Onkyo, I wouldn't want my company assiciated with inferior and obsolete technology like HDDVD.

If they make a combo player...I will pass...if they make a super quality bd/dvd player that compares to the likes of their fantastic sp 1000 dvd player....they can count me as a customer again.
