Yeah, I had to turn my center channel way up, I had an auto-configuration thing and it initially turned it to -10...now it's at +5

Wow, thanks everyone! I feel dumb now. That setting wasn't even hard to get to, I just didn't pay enough attention to it. I guess all those colored bars scared me away at first...

Now it's just a matter of playing with the settings until it sounds right.

Well, I think I have it about as good as it will get.

I still have to use the "Level Sound" option, otherwise the action scenes just explode out of the speakers at ridiculous levels.

The dialog is very good now, but at the cost of the other audio. You still get the important sounds, but all the subtleties are lost. I guess it's better to hear dialog than to worry about that...I really don't think it can get perfect.

Yup, so it's time to start saving for a real 5.1 system. This hobby is fun, as long as you enjoy being poor.

Oh, and with a real 5.1 system, you'll enjoy those 'ridiculous levels' a lot more.
