My latest batch from Acoustic Sounds included Speakers Corner's boxed set of Stravinsky's ballets.

Kind of an impulse buy, but I just got the Beastie Boys Check Your Head 180 g LP set. It's a guilty pleasure.

Thought I would resurrect this as I'm sure some of you have bought some since the last post.

Good call. I think since I last posted here, I've bought the Clarity version sof Peter Gabriel 1 through 4, and So. Although there are four discs in each set, it's still only one album.

Nice! I almost forgot. I bought the newly remastered George Harrison "All Things Must Pass" boxset.

I love vinyl box sets!

I have:

The Complete Doors Boxset
Led Zeppelin - Mothership
Pink Floyd - Echoes
Woodstock: Three Days of Peace and Music
Grateful Dead: The Warner Bros. Studio Albums

I have pics of these posted in the 2 Channel Audio section of my gallery.

I bought a couple more in Montreal at SSI: David Gilmour's Live in Gdansk and Metallica's eponymously titled debut.

How I had not heard of this release prior to today is bothering me!

I just checked it out, I might have to order this soon. It looks outstanding... and I haven't even heard it yet. Read a review and it sounds like a marvelous set. This got moved to the top of my wish list!

I bought the Zeppelin Mothership box set which is pretty decent. Good quality and generally good sounding.

Then I bought the Genesis box set 1970 to 1975 and have to tell you that is a total rip-off. Poor quality, zagged edges, warps, poor sound quality and a skip on side 2 of Selling England By The Pound. One of the worst vinyl purchases I've ever made.

I look forward to your thoughts on this set. The only box set I have is the Grateful Dead (5 Warner Brothers records) and I love it.

Look for my Metallica review in issue 7 or so (I have issue 6's records already lined up).

Damn, if it's a limited box set I was hoping to get a review before trying to find one becomes impossible or unaffordable.

Bill

AFAIK, it's not ultra-limited. I picked up mine for the regular price of ~$50. From what I hear, the 45-RPM edition isn't compressed anywhere nearly as much as the CD versions.

I hate when that happens. I bought the Annie Lennox Collection (2LP set) from Amazon UK, and although the quality from a physical perspective was fine, the recording itself is brutal. There is no consistancy from track to track, which to me indicates this was just thrown together as an afterthought. How very disappointing since Annie is one of my favourite artists!

Have you listened to this yet? Impressions? Or must I wait for an official "vinylphile" review?

Not yet!! Piss poor, I know, but I've been busy doing other stuff. It is next on my "to play" list.
