Um, welcome to the corporate sector where people try to make money and really don't give a sh*t. Believe it or not, this is not the first instance of a company taking shortcuts in a product at the consumer's expense. Let's not get completely hysterical here.

Nah, not getting hysterical - just think what they do sometimes is crappy. Probably why I still have not bought any BD movies yet.

BD movies are excellent products for the most part. It will get better w/ time as the forwat war and other issues resolve themselves. You have to allow markets to mature. Also most people expect way too much from products and life in general... every PS3 game, whether it is great and extremely fun or not, gets a weaker review because people somehow expect more. It's the same of HD movies. Have some patience.
