60-70" go big or go home, if you have the money and the space. From what I have heard people always wish they bought a bigger tv, than they did.

I am buying all my expensive stuff now (HTDV,Wii,PS3,DVD Recorder)
Because am starting to collect Blu-Ray and DVDs and I will eventually have a decent collection (Right now I just have 2 blu-rays and 15 DVDs) but I want to play games with my ps3 and wii and watch movies because when I move out, I won't get cable and I need some movies and games to entertain myself with. So buying the right size is important. Today I spotted a 42' Phillips HDTV which caught my eye.

After listening to you guys... I am shooting between 42' and 56' even the larger I go the more small my room will look.
Sounds like you're on the right track now. I bought my first HDTV in Sept and I got a 46". It's in my bedroom and I sit about 8 ft from it and I absoluely love it. BUT, after watching it for a month or so, it made me kinda want to go bigger. I think a 50" would be perfect for a bedroom setup

But, I didn't have the money at the time and I still love my TV (46" is big, and it looks amazing). Now, for a living room setup, I would go no lower than a 55". I'm eyeing the new Sammy 950 as my next TV someday when I have my setup in my living room

go with at least a 50 inch, and personally i'd go with as big as you can afford provided it doesn't fill up the entire room lol

like somebody has already mentioned the best answer to your question is to buy the biggest you can afford, my bedroom is very small yet when I first purchaed my 52 hdtv, it looked huge in it, now looks kind of small in comparison. I wouldn't mind if I had 70".

Yeah, I'd love to go with a 60" now but the fact that I could almost buy 2 50" Kuros for the price of a 60" is a little....weird.

I wouldn't get anyting more than 46". Wait until a few years when TVs have higher resolutions before you break the 50" barrier.

From what I've seen..... there seems to be a HUGE leap in price once you jump over 42"

Price wise, there's no reason to buy smaller than 32", and there isn't "much" of a price increase from 37" to 42" but once you go over 42", the price increases exponentially.

If the family is giving you a lot of push-back on a 32", then just get a 37" ..... I have a 37" in my living room, with a seating distance of 7 or 8 feet....

For movies I have a 10' viewing distance from 106"

In a spare room we have a 32" with a viewing distance of almost 10'

I enjoy them all.

I sit 8' away from my 46" and I'd say it's the perfect size for the room, could probably go to a 50" or larger but I like having a little bit of space for other stuff.

Being older than most of you, I have memories of growing up with a 21" black and white TV in the late 50's and early 60's. I remember buying my first color tv in 1970. It was a 25" Zenith in one of those wooden cabinets. It was a little over 500 dollars. Anyway, when I decided to have a dedicated movie room, my first objective was to get the biggest son of a ***** I could buy. 70 inches. My eyes are about 9 feet from the screen and it looks great. I certainly would not tell you to rob the kids college fund, or take out a second mortage, but you will not regret buying as large a screen as you can afford.

I would say go between 50" to 60" if you can afford it. The smallest I would go is 46".

I'd say go as big as you can afford. My first set was a 32" a few years ago when they were still pricey. I paid $1100 then. Then I decided I wanted 1080p when that became more affordable and that also came along with a larger screen...a 37" which I thought would be my last set for years. Then, I decided it wasn't big enough so I got a 42" 1080p which I still have. Initially I was happy with the size for the most part, but I started noticing that A: I still wanted bigger, B: I wasn't quite satisfied with the black level, and C: 1080p at this size wasn't really wowing me over my old 720p 32" set. I decided to go with an affordable 50" 768p and now I'm happy. Now, my 42" is in the bedroom replacing a 26" that I had. To be honest, I would have gone with a 60" if I could afford it....maybe 65" even! Of course I'd go 1080p at those sizes though.

The 50" seems much bigger once you see it without a bunch of other same sized tvs all around it.
Seemed to not be very big in the BB store.
pdp-5020 is amazing.

People forget that a front projector can be adjusted down to a mere 32" all the way to 7' to 15' feet! Especially today when the technology is so much less money now; you can get a 720p for under 1000 and a 1080p from a little over a grand to 2K with no problems at all. I just do not see much value purchasing any TV unless you are on a budget of under say $700 or so as you could get a front projector instead.

Remember what the ladies say, SIZE MATTERS!
